1. Parking Buildings
2. Libraries etc.
1. Consist of a solid concrete slab with drop panels and column Heads.
4. Column heads & drop panels provide resistance against punching shear.
FLAT PLATE
No beams, no column
heads with/ without
drop panels.
FLAT SLAB
No beams with column
heads with/ without
drop panels..
COLUMN NOS :
2 TO 15, 17, 26, 27, 28, 37, 38, 39, 48, 49, 50, 59, 60, 61, 70, 72, 73, 74,
76, 77, 78 = 510 X 610 mm
79, 81, 82, 83, 75, 80 = 510 X 1270
FLAT PLATE SYSTEMS :
Consist of only slabs & columns beams being
committed.
SECTION
FLAT PLATE SYSTEMS :
Consist of only slabs & columns beams being committed.
ISOMETRIC VIEW
MERITS :
1. Pleasing clear flat ceiling.
2. Can reduce storey height to accommodate more number of storeys.
3. Simple and less form work.
4. Easy and quick construction.
DEMERITS :
1. More thickness of slab is needed to resist punching shear stress.
2. Heavy weight and costlier system compared to beam & slab system.
3. Problematic if concentrated loads are to be supported or large
openings to be provided (will need framing)
4. Weak in Horizontal loads (seismic) resistance.
CORPORATE PARK : DLF QUTAB ENCLAVE, PHASE III
10 STOREYED BLOCK (Flat Plate construction)
CONCLUSION :
Adopt beam and slab floor system unless there is justification for adopting any
other system due to functional, architectural and aesthetic reasons.
