Please Make The Corrections:: Center: C (-4, 3) Foci: F and F (-1, 3) Vertices V (-4 - (-4 + Aysmptotes: y

The document provides steps to determine the center, foci, vertices, and asymptotes of a hyperbola given its equation. It first identifies if the hyperbola is horizontal or vertical based on the order of x2 and y2 terms. It then finds the values of a2 and b2 to determine a, b, and c. The center is identified using the h and k values. The foci are found by moving c units from the center. The vertices are found by moving a units from the center. The asymptotes are identified by setting the equation equal to 0 and solving for y in terms of x. Three examples are worked through to demonstrate the process.

Step 5: Whatever value you get on the right side, divide through by it, so the
right side becomes "= 1".

We have a 2 =5,and a = √ 5 , b 2=4 and b = 2. Thus c =√ a2 +b 2 = 3. The hyperbola is
horizontal. To determine the asymptotes, we write

(x +4 )2 ( y−3)2
- = 0 and solve for

foci: F 1 (−7 , 3 ) and F 2(-1, 3)

The conjugate axis drawn has its endpoints b = 2 units above and below the
center.

To determine the center, foci, vertices, and asymptotes of the hyperbola with
given equation.
First identify if a hyperbola is horizontal( x 2 comes first) or vertical( y 2comes
first), then the value of a 2(always a denominator of the first term), and b 2( a
denominator of the second term) so we can get the value of a, b ,and c =√ a2 +b 2.
