The idea of make-up can be wrongly seen to our society nowadays, they always say “Women wear to much

make up.” “Women only wear make-up because they’re insecure.” “Why do you wear make-up? Why can’t you enjoy
your natural beauty?” “That doesn’t even look like her, this shouldn’t be allowed.” These are some phrases that I
always hear but what the vast majority don't comprehend that there's also variety of valid reason concerning why
women wear make-ups.

Having an interest to make-up have the stigma of belief that those who wear make-up are insecure about how
they actually look, that they are wearing make-up only with the intention to impress a guy, or that they use it because
they are ashamed of what they were born with. When in fact make-up is much more than a product to enhance your
looks but it is a passion, self-expression, and an opportunity to enhance ones feature whichever way they want. There is
literally nothing wrong with individuals wanting to put their best self forward and look how they feel. Make-up is a
powerful asset and it is one that merits regard instead of disgrace.

I’m a woman who love to wear make-ups, my interest in using cosmetics started when I’m at the 10th grade
where make-up tutorials have taken up most of the social media. Before I started to wear make-up, I’m not that
confident of how I look because when I’m young I experienced being bullied because of having a dark skin tone
and having a big forehead. That causes me to think that you should have a fair skin tone to be acknowledged as
beautiful. That time, the only weapon that I have was make up, makeup is the one who helped me to build
myself confidence, express myself more freely, and it also gives me an extraordinary self-esteem that no one
can do; like when I groom my brows, swiping on mascara, applying a lip color that makes me smile every time
I look at the mirror and makes me feel powerful. Ladies and gentlemen, we should always remember that the
perception of society does not matter in the eyes of the individual. What does matter is how you view yourself.
All over the world, makeup is used in different ways to symbolize power, strength, and individuality. It is
something to be proud of not ashamed of. We all might love a natural makeup look, but makeup should not be a
dirty secret. It is something that can give us the power we need to make real change in the world whenever we
want it to. I would like to end my talk by saying the quote of Ms. Michelle Pan saying, Makeup is not a
mask that covers up your beauty; it's a weapon that helps you express who you
are from the inside.
