Earth Science Roleplay Script

The document describes a roleplay script about a foreigner visiting a solar powered city for the first time. In the city, all buildings and houses are powered by solar energy collected from solar panels. While solar panels are expensive, using solar power is seen as a worthwhile investment and is more sustainable and environmentally friendly than other energy sources. The foreigner learns about how solar energy works by converting sunlight into electricity through solar cells. Overall, the city has embraced solar power as its main energy source and the foreigner is impressed by this renewable and green approach.

SCENE: AIRPORT
A foreigner is about to board a plane.
Foreigner: I’m excited for this trip! I hope it will be enjoyable and memorable.
The moment the foreigner stepped out of the airport, he was given a warm welcome from the
people.
Man: Here, Sir! Let me carry your luggage.
Foreigner: Are you the one that is tasked to fetch me?
Man: Yes, Sir!
Foreigner: Can I ask you a question? Are the people here like that?
Man: Yes, Sir! Even if you’re a stranger they will give you a warm welcome.
Foreigner: I see.
After the talk, they drove on the way to the hotel where the foreigner will stay.
SCENE: HOTEL
Foreigner: So far, this trip is going well! I don’t have any activities planned for tomorrow. I
guess, I’m going to tour the city tomorrow.
He saw a woman (umay tawag jaon sa hotel gani na baji na pwede ka mag-ask?) and walked
towards her direction.
Foreigner: Good Morning, Miss. Do you perhaps know any good places to tour around the city?
This is my first time here.
Woman: Well, we have here a brochure showing all our tourist spots. Would you want one?
Foreigner: I would love to!
Woman: Here you go, Sir.
The foreigner started reading the brochure.
Foreigner: These are interesting! A solar powered city? I’ve never heard of anything like this
before.
Woman: Yes, sir. A solar power is the conversion of energy from sunlight into electricity. Our
city decided to use solar energy because it is a renewable free source of energy
that is sustainable and totally inexhaustible.
Foreigner: That’s good!
Woman: I hope you enjoy your trip, sir.
Foreigner: Thank you.
SCENE: CITY
The next day, the foreigner decided to tour the city with the help of a tour guide.
Tour guide: Good Morning, sir! Today I will be your tour guide and I will tour you around the
city. Our city is known to be solar powered because we use energy from
sunlight for our electricity.
Foreigner: How does this solar power work?
Tour guide: Our sun is a natural nuclear reactor. It releases tiny packets of energy called
photons, which travel the 93 million miles from the sun to Earth in about 8.5 minutes. Every
hour, enough photons impact our planet to generate enough solar energy to theoretically satisfy
global energy needs for an entire year. When photons hit a solar cell, they knock electrons loose
from their atoms. If conductors are attached to the positive and negative sides of a cell, it forms
an electrical circuit. When electrons flow through such a circuit, they generate electricity.
Multiple cells make up a solar panel, and multiple panels (modules) can be wired together to
form a solar array. The more panels you can deploy, the more energy you can expect to generate.
Foreigner: Is every houses and building solar powered?
Tour Guide: Yes, sir. The place wouldn’t be called a solar powered city if it wasn’t.
The tour guide is touring the foreigner around and pointing the buildings.
Tour Guide: Can you see that building? That is powered by solar energy. You can also clearly
see the solar panels.
Foreigners: Are solar panels expensive?
Tour Guide: Sadly, yes. But as you can see, our city insisted that we should use solar panels.
Yes, it is expensive but it is an investment and also good for our planet.
