The student is requesting to submit pending plates for Architectural Visual Communication 3 Graphics 2 and have their dropped mark reconsidered. They faced several difficulties during the pandemic that prevented them from meeting the May 30th deadline. Their 90-year old grandmother had two serious health incidents and passed away, requiring the student to care for her and assist with arrangements. Additionally, the student did not have proper equipment like a table and T-square to complete the technical plates at home. They asked their father to make a table for them but he lacked materials and it took a week to construct. The student is hoping these circumstances will merit reconsideration of their late submission and dropped mark.

MADAME/SIR:

I would like to request, your good office to consider my appeal to let me submit my pending plates in
Architectural Visual Communication 3 Graphics 2 and reconsider my dropped mark in my student
portal.

Below is my reason for my failure of passing the given task at a given deadline of May 30, 2020.

I tried coping up through the different problems we’ve faced during this pandemic but problems at home
has been piled up one after another and it has been too much coping up with it. The things that
happened had left a big impact in my family and in our emotional state as well. These are the various
reasons that caused why I haven’t passed my plates in Graphics 2 yet.

My grandmother, 90 yrs. Old, has been in and out in the hospital for a couple of times already. Two of
which have made a huge damage in her body which caused her death. These two incidents happened
during this quarantine and since she is living at our house at that time, I was the one tending to her
needs since my parents and elder brother are working. The first incident is when she had an accident in
our bathroom where she slipped and had a fracture in her thigh bone near her pelvic area that has
caused for her to be bedridden at the hospital. The second incident is the worst which caused her death.
She’s at the bed at home when I asked her if she’s hungry but she is not responding nor reacting. She’s
just staring in one direction as if she can’t hear anything. We were very alarmed at her situation so we
rushed her to the hospital. The doctors had trouble finding out the cause of what happened to her thus
extending our stay at the hospital. During this time I was the one tending to her at the hospital along
with my mother, since I can’t do all the things by myself. A couple of days have passed and the only
diagnosis the doctors gave is that she has Pneumonia, which they said is normal for people like my
grandmother-- given her age. After a couple more days, my grandmother passed away. After that, we
have been busier due to the arrangements of her burial and other rituals. I was already stressed at this
time because I only have a couple of days before the deadline. I tried to start my plates but there have
been many issues at home. Another reason is that I don’t have a proper table where I can do my plate. I
tried doing it without using a T-square and a proper table but the activity needs a lot of work and proper
equipment due its technicality. Out of desperation, I asked my father to make a table for me so I can
continue my plates at home but we don’t have materials so he needed to ask our neighbors for materials
such as used woods and more. It took him almost a week to do it.
I hope that my request letter merits your preferential attention.

Thank you for your kindest consideration.

Respectfully yours,

Arvie Joyce Sabaybay Lagula
