The Intimidating truth of The Imitation Game

The Imitation Game is a historical drama film directed by Morten Tyldum and written by

Graham Moore. This movie is based off the 1983 biography Alan Turning: The Enigma by

Andrew Andrew Hodges. This movie follows the life of Alan Turning around the time of Second

World War and how he helped decrypt Germany’s code which was at the time considered

unbreakable. This movie is already a classic and needs to be passed down throughout

generations to come it teaches us how being odd is not necessarily a bad thing.

This movie follows Alan Turning in the middle of WWII and shows us how he never really

fits in due to his extreme intelligence. This will later come in handy when he gets an interview

to be a decrypter for the British military. The British military was looking for decrypters because

the Germans invented the Enigma code which was considered to be unbreakable. The British

military was desperate to find coders who were skilled enough to help crack the code. We then

see Turning to go on to help the military go on to make a machine which would later end up

helping secure the victory cracking the code.

This movie has been said to be a slow movie that takes to long for anything to happen.

This however is not true in the slightest right from the beginning of the movie we see Alan

Turning getting interrogated by the police, but we do not know what for. Then we get lured in

by Turning when he starts asking us if were “paying attention” and that we will need to pay

close attention as we look at his house in shambles.

Some people say that this movie follows a very formulaic and predictable pattern. We

have a misunderstood man who meets a group of people that change him and he ends up

becoming the hero. I say to those people your right it is formulaic but is that really such a bad

thing this movie proves to us that sometimes a predictable movie can still captivate you. We do

not always need to be reinventing a genre instead let us use the formulaic patterns we have

seen time and time again that it works. That people enjoy seeing these types of movies it

resonates it with them it makes them feel like there less of an underdog.

This movie is not for everyone I will say that, but this movie can true astonish if you just give it a

chance. This movie can and will be considered a classic for generations to come we learn that

even if we are different we can still be helpful to those around us. The Imitation Game is a

movie that will inspire you to look want to learn more about Alan Turning.

Dear Mr. Bommarito,

My writing process during this assignment was for me to write as much as I could. I did

this because it’s easier for me to come up with more ideas and keeps me from being

overwhelmed also helps me keep me ideas for getting cluttered. Next time I would not change

the process I used to write, but I would have chosen a different subject to write about I would

have changed to a television show instead. My interpretation of the key terms didn’t change to

much from my previous thoughts or beliefs. My peer told me that I had many grammar errors

so I tried my best to fix the ones I could find. I also needed to change many sentences that did

not make sense when I read them out loud. One of my weaknesses in this assignment was run

on sentences I kept putting run on sentences and putting extra word when I didn’t need to. I

tried harder to make shorter sentences this time so my paper would flow better. My strength

was my Thesis statement and my conclusion I believe this because most of the time write a

strong thesis .Two SLO’s that I understand better now is first of genre I found out that the genre

that the decide to use will greatly change the audience’s expectations of what is going to

happen. I also learned that audiences do not always want to have a formulaic movie because it

can be perceived as boring and just like every other movie even though it can vary from other

movies in the same genre.
