Eec461 Assignment 2: Mohan Mohinish Ram 2019003115 11/6/2020

This document contains a summary of different types of televisions: 1) CRT televisions contain an electron gun that shoots electrons at a screen coated with phosphors to display images. 2) Plasma TVs contain pixels filled with gas that light up when hit with an electrical current to display colors. 3) LCD TVs use liquid crystal displays that are lit from behind by LEDs or CCFL backlights to produce images. LCD TVs are thin but use more power and have poorer image quality than other TV types.

Types of TVs

CRT- The cathode-ray tube (CRT) is a vacuum tube that contains one or more electron guns and

a phosphorescent screen, and is used to display images.[1] It modulates, accelerates, and
deflects electron beam(s) onto the screen to create the images. The images may represent
electrical waveforms (oscilloscope), pictures (television, computer monitor), radar targets, or
other phenomena. CRTs have also been used as memory devices, in which case the visible light
emitted from the fluorescent material (if any) is not intended to have significant meaning to a
visual observer (though the visible pattern on the tube face may cryptically represent the stored
data)
PLASMA- Plasma TVs are composed of pixels filled with gas that light up in different colors
when they're hit with an electrical current. LCD televisions use screens made of liquid crystals
that are lit up from behind to create images.
LCD- Liquid-crystal-display televisions (LCD TVs) are television sets that use liquid-crystal
displays to produce images. ... LCD TVs are thin and light, but have some disadvantages
compared to other display types such as high power consumption, poorer contrast ratio, and
inferior color gamut. LCD is a liquid-crystal display that uses LED backlighting instead of
traditional cold cathode fluorescent backlighting. LED-backlit displays use the same TFT LCD
technologies as CCFL-backlit LCDs, but offer a variety of advantages over them.
