Introduction Termination Board Solutions for Emerson DeltaV

The Pepperl+Fuchs and Emerson Typical Cabinet Layout

Termination Board Solutions Similar to the DeltaV M-series and S-series based traditional
I/O cards, the DeltaV specific Termination Boards and
H-System isolated barriers can be mounted in horizontal and
Introduction vertical orientation. The most condensed cabinet layout can
be achieved by following the vertical orientation approach, as
The H-System offers a collection of high density channel
cable ducts for IS signals can be easily separated from cable
barriers which are highly reliable with low power dissipation
ducts for non-IS Signals, as shown below.
characteristics. It is the ideal solution with DeltaV traditional
I/O cards for hazardous area location applications where
field signals are coming out of a Class I/Div.1 or Zone1
environment.
To fully leverage the high channel density advantage of the
H-System, DeltaV specific Termination Boards have been
developed, which can be connected to DeltaV M-series
and S-series based traditional I/O cards, using off-the-shelf
1:1 pin compatible cables. Together, they offer a low footprint,
reliable and tightly integrated isolated barrier solution, which
is quick and easy to install.

HiD Multi-Channel IS Solutions

Isolated Barriers and Termination Boards
The H-System isolated barriers provide line fault monitoring
as well as optimized, native HART communication to
the DeltaV I/O cards and are supported by the DeltaV
Engineering Tools and AMS Device Manager.
DeltaV Series 2 Plus traditional I/O cards do also provide a
termination fault detection feature, sensing the Termination
Boards and providing information about the status of the
connected Termination Board, isolated barriers on the board,
field signals as well as the cables and connectors between
the board and the DeltaV I/O card. The DeltaV specific
Termination Boards are optimized in footprint, as they have
exactly the same width as two DeltaV I/O cards while holding
a maximum of 4 isolated barriers (16 channels). On top, no
additional 24 V DC power distribution is required because
the Termination Boards draw power from the same source as
the DeltaV I/O cards. In case of redundant DeltaV I/O cards,
power redundancy feeding of the Termination Boards and
isolated barriers occurs naturally.

guidelines of the respective country.
IEC/EN 60079-14.
Observe the corresponding documentation or the information
on the device for the correct assignment of the terminals to the
modules and their respective channels.
Requirements for Cables and Connection Lines
Observe the following points when installing cables and
connection lines:
Observe the permissible core cross-section of the conductor.
If you use stranded conductors, crimp wire end ferrules on the
conductor ends.
Use only one conductor per terminal.
When installing the conductors the insulation must reach up to
the terminal.
Observe the tightening torque of the terminal screws.
Requirements for Usage as Associated Apparatus
If circuits with type of protection Ex i are operated with non-
intrinsically safe circuits, they must no longer be used as
circuits with type of protection Ex i.
Intrinsically safe circuits of associated apparatus can be led
into hazardous areas. Observe the compliance of the
separation distances to all non-intrinsically safe circuits
according to IEC/EN 60079-14.
Observe the compliance of the separation distances between
two adjacent intrinsically safe circuits according to
IEC/EN 60079-14.
The intrinsically safe circuits are provided by the connected

modules.
Observe the maximum values of the device, when connecting
