a) Explain in your own way what is meant by the concept of office automation (6 Marks)
b) Explain why a database approach is considered to be better than a traditional file approach

c) In a typical office, you will get computers, facsmachines, scanners and many other devices that
automate office work. Users in these offices mostly work with several application software that
increases their productivity. Describe the features of the following software:
i. Word processors (3 Marks)
ii. Spreadsheets (3 Marks)
iii. Database management systems (3 Marks)
d) Explain any five factors that can be considered in selecting an application software (5 Marks)
e) Define the following terms (2 Marks)

b) To determine the students who qualify to go for a tour, the school’s management has decided that
any of the following conditions should be met:

If ANY of the conditions is met, it should return the Granted; however, failure on ALL should return
Denied.
