Instructions:
a) Based on the lecture on Fads, Trends, and Cultural Perspectives, make your own
example of a situation that demonstrates a fad. Give your own analysis of the situation
using the Arnoldian perspective. (10 pts)
b) Identify a current trend in Philippine society and give your own analysis of the situation
using the perspective of Leavisism. (10 pts)
c) Be concise but accurate in your examples and explanation. Plagiarized outputs shall not
be given credit.

1. Fad (Arnoldian Perspective)

 When the years go by many apps are trend thru the years but suddenly it becomes a fad
. In the year 2015-2017 there was an app called “COC” or clash of clans, this apps are
very famous to gamers and students because it has a lot of excitement while playing
this. But when the time comes in the year 2018 until the present the clash of clans
games are not trendy anymore because other game maker makes other apps more
beautifull. This is what Arnold calls cultivated inaction. If the app was fad it is not our
fault because years and years the standards of the people evolves according to what
they see or what they want.

2. Trend (Leavisism Perspective)

- Many apps are trend in the world right now like Facebook live, Bigo live, Kumu live and
other live apps. People in the philippines mostly like this apps because not only this app
can solve thier boredom but some people in this apps can make money by making live
videos with challenges. Specially now we are in the middle of the pandemic many
people try to make videos to make it trend. . The current trend is a panacea, it believes
that you and other people do something or take in into your brain. It translates that as
a form good to you or the other people.
