Vern’s Bird House Manufacturing Company (“BIRDCO”) manufactures wooden bird houses that are sold
to retail stores in Canada. After five (5) years of strong manufacturing from its Belleville Ontario
production plant, Vern has noticed that “productivity” is declining in the plant, and employees are less
interested in “doing a good quality job”.
The plant has a workforce of 125 employees (paid minimum hourly wage), plus 15 managers. Vern is eager
to get the workers excited, because “BIRDCO” received a new order contract to supply bird houses to
Walmart Canada. Based on your understanding of Organizational Behavior theory as it applies to the
workplace, make some recommendations to Vern about improving motivation in the company.
Business managers have challenges keeping employees on track with achieving organizational objectives.
Explain how an understanding of the foundations of Organizational Behavior might be of benefit to
managers.
The latest study from the Conference Board of Canada (a research firm) indicated that close to 58% of

Explain how “values and attitudes” are changing and making an impact as a result of “Generational
Differences” in the workplace.
