Technical Specifications

Your computer, or any computer you own and can use for tutoring, must meet the
following specifications to be accepted as a Tutor.com tutor applicant.

If you are unsure of the hardware specifications of your computer, click here for
instructions on looking up your specs.

1. The Tutor.com Classroom will only run in a Windows environment.

Supported versions of Windows are as follows:

Windows 10
Windows 8.1
Windows 7

The Tutor.com Classroom does NOT run under the Mac OS. However, Mac users who can
run a Windows environment via software such as Parallels or Boot Camp should be able
to run the Classroom. Please answer YES to this question if you have, or intend to have,
this capability.

2. The Tutor.com Classroom has these additional hardware requirements:

4 GB or more of system memory (RAM)

1.8 Ghz multi-core processor (CPU) or faster

3. To be able to work online with our students through the Classroom, a high-speed
Internet connection of 15 Mbps down, 5 Mbps up is required. (We recommend 20 Mbps
down, 10 Mbps up)

Here are some examples of an acceptable connection:

Cable, DSL, fiber-optic, T1, T3, OC3, or any other land-based connection. A home or
office Wi-Fi connection linked to a wired router or access point is also OK.

Here are some examples of connections that are not compatible with the Classroom due to
slow speeds and/or connection instability:
3G or 4G cellular Internet, satellite Internet, hotspot-style public Wi-Fi connections, dial-
up
