Proposal

Rationale
The previous units served as a preparation for these next few units. Those units helped me
to develop the skills I currently possess and that I hope to further improve whilst learning
along the way.

The skills that I currently possess are: the structuring of scripts, camerawork, editing,
lighting, storyboarding and other pre-production as well as post production. These skills will
most definitely will be honed in this unit.

Currently, I am specialising in scriptwriting therefore, I have chosen to do mediums that


allow me to think more creatively which include a stop motion animation and a short film.
Both of these productions will centre around the theme of kindness as most stories for
children come with a moral about being kind and gracious.

Project Concept
At its core, the concept for this unit, as I’ve mentioned before is kindness. Thankfully, my
brothers are around the age as the target audience therefore I can use them as my actors. I
could also use them for my focus group as part of my research to help me develop the basic
plot of the story as well as research into this target audience.

I will now explain how the skills that I have mentioned in the rationale will help me in this
unit. Through good story-telling, I could structure the script into three main points also
known as the three acts after which I would draw up my story and form a story board based
on the created script. The editing is also important. We often see how a movie could be a
different genre just by editing i.e. how ’50 Shades of Grey’ could be a Disney movie.

Evaluation
I will reflect on my work by self-evaluating and getting feedback from others.

I will do this by weekly evaluations where I will reflect on my current and ongoing activity
whereas the final evaluation will be used to reflect on the unit as a whole and how I could
improve in the future. My decision-making processes will be recorded using screenshots or
screengrabs with a description of what is pictured in the image reflecting and analysing on
the aims rather than the actions that were made. The reflections should be self-critical.
