High Vibration of GA-101D

The document discusses high vibration issues found in GA-101D quench oil pump. Vibration analysis showed the highest vibration occurs at the motor outer bearing axial side, over the danger level, while the pump side is in the good level. The dominant frequency was found to be 6975 cycles per minute (CPM), which equals the blade pass frequency (BPF) of 7 times the pump RPM. Further analysis was recommended, including a motor solo run, bump test, soft foot check, and alignment check. The shutdown activities found the motor bearing temperature was initially high, but a re-solo run showed the temperature went back to normal. Further tests like end play check, cold alignment, and hot alignment were recommended

RECOMMENDATION

Based on analysis, it is recommended to stop the pump and do following action:

• Motor Solo Run (MTN Electric)
• Bump test (PdM-Rotating)
• Check soft foot, alignment and Re-alignment if needed (MTN Rotating)
• Check End Play

Analysis
1. High Bearing Temperature when tie down bolt is loosened
Suspect: High bearing temperature is generated by motor shaft touch the sleeve bearing

Initial – all bolts tight

Re-Solo run – all bolts tight

Bolt loosening → bearing centering changed → shaft and sleeve touching → high bearing temperature.

This phenomenon also proved that soft foot is low possibility to be occurred
(because soft foot will also generate high bearing temperature during normal running)
