IMPORTANT POINTS

IN

WORK IMMERSION

“Be trained to be the best, be linked to

success”
BESTLINK COLLEGE OF THE PHILIPPINES

SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL

OBJECTIVES OF WORK IMMERSION

Work immersion will help develop among the learner’s life and career

skills, and will prepare them to make decisions on post-secondary education or

employment. Through partnership building, DepEd hopes that the Partner

Institutions will provide learners with work immersion opportunities, workplace

or hands-on experience, and additional learning resources. It aims to make the

learners:

1. appreciate the importance and application of the principles and theories

learned in school;

2. enhance their technical knowledge and skills;

3. enrich their skills in communications and human relations; and

4. develop good work habits, attitudes, appreciation and respect for work.

By the time learners reach Senior High School, they would have already

acquired almost all the competencies and skills that would prepare them for the

curriculum exits (higher education, employment, middle-skills development, and

entrepreneurship). Work immersion provides them with an avenue to test

themselves and apply what they have learned in a non-school scenario. In work

immersion, learners are not only able to apply their previous training but are also

able to experience the social interactions in a work environment. Their

success”

experiences during work immersion will develop many skills and values that

would help them as they transition from high school to real life.

To assure the achievement of the above objectives of Work Immersion,

this policy serves to guide schools in:

1. creating flexible work immersion arrangements for their learners;

2. providing options for work immersion that are relevant to learners’

purposes and needs;

3. organizing work immersion opportunities for learners that are consistent

with the diverse human resource requirements of partner institutions for

work immersion; and

4. articulating the scope and limits of work immersion in the context of

basic education when building relationships with work immersion

partners.

GUIDELINES / POLICY BEFORE WORK IMMERSION

One of the goals of the K to 12 Basic Education Program is to develop in

learners the competencies, work ethic, and values relevant to pursuing further

education and/or joining the world of work. To achieve greater congruence

between basic education and the nation’s development targets, Work Immersion,

a required subject (See attached curriculum guide in Annex A), has been

incorporated into the curriculum. This subject will provide learners with

opportunities:

1. to become familiar with the work place;

2. for employment simulation; and

3. to apply their competencies in areas of specialization/applied subjects in

authentic work environments.

To achieve the above objectives, Work Immersion is thus a requirement

for graduation from secondary education. Learners are immersed in actual work

environments such as workshops offices and laboratories in which their prior

training is relevant. Other possible venues for work immersion are listed in

Annex B.

“Be trained to be the best, be linked to

success”
BESTLINK COLLEGE OF THE PHILIPPINES

SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL

These guidelines were formulated based on the rich experiences of

modeling schools, tech-voc schools, partnership focal persons, industry partners,

and youth development advocates. These guidelines can provide process support

to field offices of the Department of Education (DepEd) in fostering relationships

and strengthening partnerships so that learners will have access to suitable work

immersion venues and other related resources.

COMPANY PROFILE

COMPANY HISTORY

The school was established in June 2002 at sacred heart Village,

Caloocan CIty by the generous and charitable Madame Mary M. Vicente,

president, and Engineer Reynaldo Corpuz, administrator.

The school was initially named "LOG ON TODAY," but the management

change later on decided to change it, as it litirary sounded like an internet cafe.

Inspired by the phrase, "Be trained to be the best, Be link to success,"

BESTLINK came out to be more appropriate. Since Bestlink offers computer

based courses, it was eventually decided to name the BESTLINK INSTITUTE

OF INFORMATION AND TECHNOLOGY.

With its mission and vision of providing holistic training TESDA-

accredited Bestlink started with four computer courses. These are Computer

System Design and Programming, Computerized Office management, Computer

technology and Networking, and Computer Graphics and Web Development.

Bestlink started its operations with seven students: five from

Computerized Office Management and two from Computer System Design and

Programming. Its first location did not appeal positively to public patronage, so

the school did not attain the expected number of students. Bestlink started its

operations with seven students: five from Computerized Office Management and

two from Computer System Design and Programming. Its first location did not

appeal positively to public patronage, so the school did not attain the expected

number of students. During that time, Bestlink had only four faculty members:

Engr. Reynaldo Corpuz, math instructor and administrator; Mr. Vincent Carlo

Garados, computer instructor and IT coordinator; Respicio Siringan, English

instructor; and Ms. Marimel Loya, office management instructor, cashier, and

student affairs and marketing coordinator.

In 2004, Bestlink, with its new administraion headed by Engr, Diosdado

T. Lleno, school director, decided to move to its new location at 1044 Brgy. Sta.

Monica Quirino Highway, Novaliches, Quezon City. This strategic location led

to a huge increase in the number of students.

In 2005, through the persistent efforts of Engr. Lleno, and Mr. Charlie

Cariño as the academic consultant, Bestlink offered an additional course, Hotel

and Restaurant Services (HRS). The course incorporates seven modules:

Commercial Cooking, Food and Beverage Service, Housekeeping, Bartending,

Baking and Pastry, Tour Guiding, and Front Office Services.

In 2007, with the continuous increase of students, Bestlink temporarily

held its classes at Annex 1 fronting the Main Building. The following year, the

school acquired three lots adjacent to Greenfield's I Subdivision. On the first lot

success”

stood a two-storey building which used to be a bank. This was improved by

Bestlink, such that the ground floor served as the administration office and the

second floor housed the school library.

On the second lot, the original structure was remodelled into a mock hotel

to suit the needs of the school as well as serve as training facility for HRS

students. A five-storey building was constructed on the third lot to provide the

increasing number of enrolees with quality facilities in line with its vision of

providing quality education.

A new structure was added on the vacant space to serve as cooking lab-

training room of HRS students. The HRS laboratory and other facilities were

transferred to the newly built mock hotel which was inaugurated in August 2008.

Due to its continuing expansion, Bestlink started to offer the CHED

ladderized program (4-year degree courses): BSIT, BSHRM, BSOA, and BSBA

major in Marketing and Human Resource Management. The Permit to Operate

(PTO) for the first two courses was granted by CHED on 2009 and the last two

courses on 2010. It can be proudly stated that these courses are now in their full

swing for the school year 2010 - 2011.

Now that the school has gained its height of success through the

collaborative participation of the faculty, staff, student, parents, and the

DAILY ACCOMPLISHMENT REPORT

1ST DAY – NOVEMBER 28, 2019

(7:30AM – 5:00PM)

7:30, I 'm at school and I waited Klarize. When we went inside the school

together, the Office of Security and Safety is locked. So, we waited until

10:30am, then Sir Andrew/Andie came. Sir Andrew is the OIC. He was sorry

that time because he is late. When we enter to the office, he oriented us first what

is OSAS and also how to give entry pass and gate pass to the students. He gave

us table (only for his OJT students) and give us permission to do what we want

like to clean the office, to eat inside the office, to use the toilet and I observed

that he trust us. That time, we also met the Monitoring Staffs Mr. Lawrence, Mr.

Ever, Mr. Kimjay, and Mr. Jomar. We are so happy that they treat us well.

2ND DAY – DECEMBER 5, 2019

(8:00AM – 5:00PM)

“Be trained to be the best, be linked to

success”

So, Sir Jomar and Klarize is already inside the office. Sir Jomar is doing

his report and Klarize is cleaning the office, so I also clean the office. Sir Andrew

came 1pm, and that time i knew that Sir Andrew is attending every 1pm. Every 2

hours or 4 hours we're cleaning the office because sometimes, students or

employees are entering in the office. So daily habits, gate pass, entry pass, and

others.

3RD DAY – DECEMBER 7, 2019

(8:20AM – 5:20PM)

Sir Jomar and Sir Kimjay are late, so we waited until 9:00 am. When we

entered office, we cleaned it and we observed that there's a lot of mess. When its

1:00pm, Sir Andie came and said that we wipe every table using water with

downy, so that we smell so nice and refreshing. After that daily habits, entry

pass, gate pass and others.

4TH DAY – DECEMBER 10, 2019

(8:00AM – 5:00PM)

8am, I came to the office, but the office was locked. I knew that staffs are

late again. I waited Klarize to eat breakfast with her. When she came, I invited

her to breakfast with me. After we ate, we waited 2 hours, but the staff have not

arrived yet. So we decided to go on 3rd floor to visit our classmate who are also

OJT but as a Student Teacher. After few minutes, we came back at the office and

Sir Kimjay has arrived. We cleaned the office (as always) and we waited student

to get gate pass or entry pass. When all staffs also sir Andy came, Sir Andie

decided to buy foods because today is Sir Ever's birthday. So we went to food

court with Sir Andy to buy soft drinks, spaghetti and shanghai. We were so

happy because there's a lot of food, and we were laughing because Sir Andy was

joking. (HAHAHA) After eating, we washed the dishes, returned the soft drinks

bottle, and cleaned the office again. 4pm, a lot of students came, they said the

guard was not allowing them to go out even though they are on OJT. All their

time cards were given by Sir Andy to sign in up, to allow them to go outside.

Other students also came for the gate pass and entry pass. I think this day is the

busiest day but we are all happy because there's a lot of food and another year for

Sir Ever.

5TH DAY – DECEMBER 12, 2019

(8:00AM – 5:00PM)

Again, the staffs are late again. So we waited 2 hours again, and when Sir

Kimjay came, we cleaned the office and waited students to give their needs,

either gate pass or entry pass, or a sticker for their motor, renewal or new. Not so

“Be trained to be the best, be linked to

success”

busy, but 3 or 4 pm, there's a mommy complaining that there's a student at the

rooftop, throwing pebbles or rocks in their roof. Also bottle of beer that everyone

was shocked because beers are not allowed in school. The mommy was very

angry but Sir Andie stay calmed talking to her. Sir Andie said he will take care of

the students also the damage that students cause. I pity Sir Andie because he was

so busy and he didn't eat any food. His lunch is 4:30pm, he has no time to eat at

lunch time. But I learn that stay patient even though a client or an outsider were

shouting and complaining at you because if you stay calm, everything’s going to

be okay. Sir Andie is the example of being patient. I learn too that if the staffs are

late, I will be patient because we ask only a favor to be a trainee and to give us a

grade for our performance as a trainee, and I'm thankful that they give us

opportunity to train me and Klarize.

6TH DAY – DECEMBER 17, 2019

(7:45AM – 5:00PM)

When I came in the office, Sir LA is already at the office, I think he is

typing his report. Klarize has not yet arrived. So I cleaned the office by myself

and when I finished cleaning it, Klarize came. So we waited again the students to

give their needs. Many College students’ needs an entry pass because a day after

this day, there was a play that Philippine Stagers has performed their theatre play.

“Be trained to be the best, be linked to

success”
BESTLINK COLLEGE OF THE PHILIPPINES

SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL

So I think that their I.D. was lost because a lot of people was there in that play.

There are getting gate pass too but I think it was only 5 persons, then the students

surrendering a lost wallet and umbrella. Nothing special but I am enjoying this

training.

7TH DAY – JANUARY 9, 2020

(8:00AM – 5:00PM)

We waited so long again as usual, 11:30am, we the key, we cleaned the

office again and gave gate pass and entry pass.

8TH DAY – JANUARY 11, 2020

(9:00AM – 6:00PM)

We came late because we expected that monitoring staffs are always late.

But Sir Andie came earlier, instead of 1pm, he came 7 or 8am because he helped

the Star Model to do their makeup. When we came, always routine, cleaning the

office, and we washed the dishes.

This day like 8th day, we gave gate pass to the Grade 12 students who

done with their research defense.

10TH DAY – JANUARY 21, 2020

(2:30PM – 5:00PM)

This day is our Defense day, so we decided to go to office in the

afternoon. Like the other day, we gave again gate pass to Grade 12 students who

done in their defense and assist other students.

11TH DAY – JANUARY 22, 2020

(11:00AM – 5:00PM)

Like the day before today, we gave gate pass and assist other students to
