THE PROBLEM

Statement of the Problem

This study aims to know if music has motivated students to do better in their

academic performance.

This study specifically answers the following questions:

1. What do students feel when they listen to music and study at the same time?

2. How has music affected the students’ motivation to have a better academic

performance?

3. How has music helped the students overcome the difficulties and challenges in

having a good academic performance?

Note: it would probably help if a statement about challenges in having a good academic

perf is going to be presented first before question 3, and that this idea be

reflected in the general problem statement.

Significance of the Study

This study hopes that it will benefit the following:

Students. The results of the study will provide views to the students that music

can be a source of motivation in performing well in their student life specifically, in

academics.
Parents. The parents will understand and provide support to their children’s

choice of music as the source of motivation as it has some effects on their children in

the academic performance.

Teachers. The results of this study will also help the teachers in understanding

music as a motivation of their students in performing well in their academics.

Future Researchers. The data presented in this study will help support the

researchers who wish to replicate or continue this study.

Note: After the discussion that we had earlier regarding the topic of your research, much

will have to be changed regarding the words used in this part of your research. Look at

what your study is not supposed to examine.

I scored this work as it is. I scored it based on how this part is supposed to be

structured; on that end, you successfully created this part of your research paper.

Scope and Limitations

The researchers of this study set its scope to the responses of the students who

are motivated by music to do better in their academic performance. There is no specific

age group or degree of education considered for this study.

The researchers are going to conduct a semi-structured interview in order to

gather the data. Follow-up questions will still be raised after the main interview

questions are being asked when conducting the interview in order to solicit more valued

responses from the participants. This study is dependent on the responses of the
participants, and there is no limit to preferences, views, emotions, and experiences of

the participants in regards to music and academic performances.

A monograph that contains all of the words that have been translated into English

will be created by the researchers for the responses of each participant. The totality of

responses will be identified by themes. (This plan of using themes works if you are

going to follow a thematic analysis. But if you decide to use another method in analyzing

the data, then the use of themes may not be significant in your study.)

NOTE: Please consider the comments that I have given today regarding the actual intention of your

research. There just might be some big problems later on if the issue is not resolved; I am talking about

the issue behind your choice of a research topic.

Your output has just been scored as it is. This score has not been affected by the discussion that we had

this afternoon.

Score for the Problem Statement: 28/30

Score for the Significance: 30/30
