4.1. New features

Please refer to Luminato Configuration Guide for detailed information about usage of the new
features.

4.1.1. New HW module dense modulator

A new module is introduced, LDM-A to generate up to 24 QAM channels. Frequencies can be
freely allocated. Modulation parameters are adjusted by groups of four frequencies. Each group
can have 120 services. This initial SW release has following functional limitations.
 Up to 16x multiplexers and QAM channels available
 QAM Annex B not activated
 Payload on internal interface only. The external port is not activated yet.
Software updates to dense modulator is done through integrated Module SW update tool with
denseqam_10.2.5.swu file to module directly, chassis software image does not include sw for
LDM. The tool button is found on software update dialog.

.
4.2. Resolved issues

o RM1834 Deleting a network on NIT editor will not release outputs for reassignment
 before deleting deselect all outputs in question network
 in case deleting is already performed, recreate the network (with same ID) and do
above
o RM1730 EPG module E1/E2 default gateway is not possible to configure
 When both ports are utilized only either one is allowed to be configured for dhcp or
having gateway defined. The other port needs to be manually configured and
gateway field needs to be set to 0.0.0.0
o RM1158 EPG profile change is not propagated immediately to SDT other
 after profile change wait at least 15 seconds before start SDT/NIT generation
o RM610 si_editor: AIT Transport protocol descriptor protocol_id 0x0003 is not supported
o 16495 SNMP community including space does not work in CLI-running-config
 Do not use spaces in SNMP community name
o 11377 Luminato does not activate MPEG-2 PCR discontinuity indicator
 In the case of missing PCR discontinuity indicator in incoming stream, Luminato

4.5. Product identification

4.5.1. SW revision numbering
Software version number and product licenses can be found from the SW user interfaces
only.
Revision numbering in Luminato-platform products follows some basic rules:
The revision number consists of three fields A.B.C where
A is the major number,
B is minor and
C stands for build count.
Special caution with all system components must be taken when upgrading any part of the
system to different major number. Minor updates are intended for adding new features to
the product within the upgrade and new builds are for maintenance releases.

4.5.2. HW identification
Chassis product type, hardware version number and serial number can be found from
behind the front panel. The front panel can be opened by gently pushing the metal sheets
at the both ends of the light panel.
Interface modules have their own serial numbers and HW-versions attached to the lower
side PCB of the modules.

4.6.2. Backward compatibility notes

NOTE: for precondition 6.6.12 or later is required. To maintain configuration it is
recommended to upgrade in incremental steps 7.x.x  8.x.x  9.x.x

IMPORTANT NOTE: SW version 7.2.x has major change in file size and upgrade
methods. Upgrade to 7.x can be executed from versions 6.6.12 or later.

IMPORTANT NOTE: upgrade to 6.x.x can be executed from versions 5.x.x and
4.8.29. Upgrades from older versions may prevent future sw updates and in some
cases block the device totally.

IMPORTANT NOTE: SW versions 6.2.x and higher contain several fundamental

changes compared to previous major SW release version 5.2.x. Configurations are
not backwards compatible, and 6.2.x running configuration does not work in 5.2.x.

6.2.x introduces SW revert feature that restores also previously used configuration,
but option to revert back to 5.2.x is lost if 6.2.x is once updated to 6.2.x+1 version. In
that case, only option left for going back to 5.2.x is to do SW downgrade to 5.2.x and
erase configuration.

It is always recommended to store a configuration snapshot prior to SW

upgrade. With existing 5.2.x configuration snapshot, the 5.2.x configuration can be
completely restored after configuration erase.

NOTE: In 6.2.x SW, the method of service configuration in web UI has experienced a
major change. Internal multicast IP addresses are not shown in web UI, and there is
no need to configure them anymore. Configurations that are done in previous SW
releases are automatically re-routed according to the new method at 6.2.x SW
upgrade and they work as before upgrade. The access to internal IP addresses via
CLI still exists, but use of internal IP ports is not recommended.

NOTE: 6.2.x SW’s new web UI does not include some rarely needed configuration
parameters that are present in 5.2.x. These parameters can still, if needed, be
configured via CLI. If you are missing configuration access to some parameters
important to you, please refer to the CLI manual and/or contact Teleste support.

NOTE: 5.2.x SW uses GE1 IP address settings for user VLAN interfaces. SW 6.2.x
introduces user-configurable IP settings for VLANs. The IP address default settings in
6.2.x differ from the GE1 IP address settings in 5.2.x, thus at 5.2.x  6.2.x SW
upgrade user VLANs’ IP addresses will change and user must manually reconfigure
the VLAN IP address settings.
RELEASE NOTES

11-Sep-18 12(13)

NOTE: External syslog server address 0.0.0.0 set in <3.8.x SW version does not
work in 3.8.x and higher. If 0.0.0.0 is used, syslog gets filled with DXI get error
messages. Workaround: clear syslog server address and set another one. In 3.8.x,
syslog address can’t be set as 0.0.0.0.

NOTE: Hostnames with special characters that are created with <3.6.x SW versions
do not work in SW 3.8.x and higher – in 3.8.x hostname format in CLI and WebUI is
harmonized to follow the preferred syntax in RFC 1035

Execution of running-config containing hostnames with special characters will abort

running-config, error message is displayed: ERROR:347232:Invalid host name
format. The name should contain only alphanumeric characters or separator
character '-'!

Workaround: edit hostnames in running-config so that they contain no special

characters

NOTE: The management port separation feature introduced in 3.2.x requires two
different MAC-addresses. LCH-A Luminato chassis prior to version B12 were shipped
with only one MAC-address. Use the following CLI-commands to automatically
program the second MAC-address based on LCH-A serial number:

configure

interface fastethernet 0/1

upgrade-management-mac-address COMMIT

NOTE: Automatic bootloader update feature is checking units’ bootloader versions. If

bootloader update finds old bootloader version in a module, a notice is shown in the
Monitor view in the relevant module’s status view. To update bootloaders, go to
Administration -> Software update, where suggested bootloader updates for each
module are listed. It is highly recommended to accept all bootloader updates. Unit
then performs bootloader updates (~1-2 min). New bootloader versions are taken into
use at the next boot.

NOTE: Descrambling configuration has been changed between releases 2.x.x and
3.x.x. If upgrading from release 2.x.x to 3.x.x, remove all descrambling configuration
before upgrade. Re-enter descrambling configuration after upgrade. Refer to
Luminato configuration guide for descrambling configuration.

NOTE: 1+1 Backup feature requires both chassis to be of HW version B10 or higher.
If LAS-A module is used in 1+1 backup setup, it needs to be version B13 or higher.
RELEASE NOTES

11-Sep-18 13(13)

NOTE: If upgrading from release 1.x.x, you must first install releases 1.2.0 and 2.1.7
in that order prior to installing release 3.x.x.

NOTE: This release has factory default "Fibre compatible" for SFP-modules. This
means that by default SERDES-type modules should work without configuration. The
other type is SGMII, which is referred as "electrical only" in user interface. All
Luminatos were shipped with SGMII-type module until November 2008.

The upper SFP module (SFP-10/100/1000Base-T) is SGMII module and electrical

only setting must be used. The lower SFP module (SFP-1000Base-T) is SERDES-
type module and “Fibre compatible”-mode must be used.
