Example One Sample T Test

The one sample t-test compares the mean of a sample to a test value to determine if there is a significant difference. For example, a fitness center used a one sample t-test to compare their member's average monthly visits of 9.97 to the national average of 8 to see if their members visited significantly more often. The results of the one sample t-test provide the test value, sample size, significance level, and confidence interval to determine if the difference between the sample mean and test value is statistically significant.
