Number of turns of copper wire
Conclusion :
The graph above shows that as the number of turns of the copper wire on the
electromagnet increase the magnetic force increases .We can see that when the number of
turns were 2 the magnetic force was -0.013 N.Meanwhile when the number of turns was
15 the magnetic force became 0.004 N . When the number of turns was 25 which is the
highest range of number of turns in our data ,the magnetic force was 0.018 N which is the
the stongest magnetic force . The relationship between the number of turns and magnetic
force is directly proportional . On the graph as the number of turns increases the slope
increases . This proves that my hypothesis was right .Although there were some negative
readings on the balance which resulted in the magnetic force being negative that is
because when attraction between the permanent magnet and electromagnet occurs ,at the
same time a reaction between the magnetc field and electromagnet field occurs . Also
there were many sources of errors because the line is not straight (the ratio in which the
magnetic force increases is not constant . At last going back to the scientific background
which explains why when the number of turns increases the magnetic force increases we

colclude that when the number of turns increases each turn has a magnetic field so it is
like you are adding up magnetic fields which causes the magnetic force to increase .
Evaluation
Method realiability and validity : There were many sources of errors we can see that
from the points on the graph since they did not increase in the same ratio . This tells us
that something was wrong with our method . First of all the range in which the number of
turns increase wasn’t constant at first ,it went from 2 turns to 5 then to 10. This
manipulated our results on the graph (can’t be a straight line ) . Also it was difficult to
take down readings from the balance because it kept changing readings .Furthermore in
the method it was said that the current must pass through for 3 minitues ,that is wrong
because the wire will heat up making it harder for the current to pass through which
affects the magnetic field strength and therfore the magnetic force . Also the results from
the negative to positive terminal weren’t very close to the results from the positive to
negative terminal .
Improvements :
Next time for better and more accurate results :
Make sure the ranges in which number of turns increase is constant
Use less number of turns like (2,4,6,8,10 ) .That way you can have more ranges
which will give you more results .
Use an apparatus that is more accurate than a balance to test magnetic field
.Instead of calculating magnetic field by mass use a magnetometer that calculates
magnetic fields .
Test the expirement from the negative to positive terminal twice and take the
average . Then from the positive to negative terminal test twice then take the
average . After doing that add the two results up and divide the answer over 2
(take average again )
Next time we can also put some paper clips near the electromagnet and see how
many paper clips are attracted to the electromagnet .We can use that as an
observation .
