PRESENT INDEFINITE TENSE
Present /1st form of verb is used helping verb do or does
(not use in positive/simple sentences)
If subject is third person singular. all subject except “I”
add “s” or “es” to 1stform or verb
Negative sentences; don’t =do not, or doesn’t= does not
remove “s” or “es” after using “does”
Interrogative sentence: place helping verb at the
beginning of sentence
Example
 I drink water, I don’t drink water, Do I drink water
PRESENT CONTINUOUS TENSE
Present participle/gerund/ing form of verb is used
Helping verb is, am, are.
Negative sentence: isn’t =is not, aren’t=are not, and am
not.
Interrogative sentences: place having verb at the
beginning of sentence.
Example: I am drinking water, I am not drinking water,
Am I drinking water?

PRESENT PERFECT TENCE
Past participle/3rd form of verb is used.
Helping verb has/have.
Negative sentence: has not or have not.
Interrogative sentence: has or have are used at the
beginning of sentence.
Example: I have drink water, I have not drink water, Have
I drink water?
She has finished her work, She has not finished her work,
Has she finished her work?

PRESENT PERFECT CONTINIOUS


TENSE:
Present participle/Gerund/ ing form of verb is used.
Helping verb: has been or have been.
Negative sentence: Has not been or have not been.
Interrogative sentence: Have or has placed at the
beginning of sentence.
If start time of any verb is given used “since”. If time
period is given use “for”.

SINCE: day, date, time, months and years etc.
FOR: when time period is given.
Example; we have been studying for two hours.
I have been reading books since morning.
PAST INDEFINNITE TENCE:
Past /2nd form is used
Helping verb did (not using in positive/simple sentence.
Negative sentence: did not
1st form of verb is used after using did.
Interrogative sentence: place helping verb did at the
beginning of sentence.
Example: I drank water., I did not drink work , Did I
drink water?
PAST CONTINIOUS TENSE;
Present participle /gerund/ing form of verb is used.
Helping verb was and were.
Negative sentence; was not or were not.
Interrogative sentence: was or were placed at the
beginning of sentence.

Example: I was drinking water, I was not drinking water,
was I drink water.?
They were drinking water.
PAST PERFECT TENSE:
3RD FORM of verb is used.
Helping verb had is used.
Negative sentence: had not is used
Interrogative sentence: had is place at the beginning of
sentence
Example: I had drunk water, I had not drunk water, had I
drunk water.
PAST PERFECT CONTINIOUS TENSE:
Present participle/gerund/ing form of verb is used.
Helping verb had been is used.
Negative sentence: had not is used.
Interrogative sentence: only had is placed on the
beginning of sentence.
SINCE: I had been reading books since morning, I had
not been reading books since morning, had I been reading
books since morning.

FOR: we had been studying for 2 hours, we had not been
studying for 2 hours, had we been studying for 2 hours.
FUTURE INDEFINITE TENCE:
First form of verb is used.
Helping verb will or shall is used.
Negative: will not shall not.
Interrogative: will or shall place at the beginning of
sentence.
I shall drink water, I shall not drink water, shall I drink
water?
Future continuous tense;
Gerund or ing form is used.
Helping verb will be or shall be is used,
Negative; will not be or shall not be
Interrogative: will shall placed at the beginning of
sentence.
Example: I shall be drinking water, I shall not be drinking
water, shall I be drinking water?
FUTURE PERFECT TENSE:
3rd form of verb is used.

Helping verb will have shall have
Negative sentence; will not have shall not have.
Interrogative sentence: will or shall placed at the
beginning of sentence.
Example: I shall have drunk water, I shall not have drunk
water, shall I have drunk water
FUTURE PERFECT CONTINIOUS
TENSE;
Present participle/gerund/ing form is used.
Helping verb shall have been or will have been is used
Negative; will not have or shall not have.
Interrogative ; will or shall placed at the beginning of
sentence.
SINCE: I shall have been readings books since morning,
I shall not have been readings books since morning, shall
I have been reading books since morning.
FOR; he will have been studying for two hour, he will
not have been studying for 2 hour, will he have been
studying for 2 hour.
