Submission Criteria

Music videos will have been completed no earlier than January 1st, 2019.

Music videos must not exceed 8 minutes.

Submitted music videos should not contain any [written] production credits at the
end of the video (i.e. credit roll).

For the final screening version we’ll only accept videos that have been submitted with
a complete application form and a fully paid entry fee.

Filmmakers, producers, and/or musicians who submit their video to the Berlin Music
Video Awards must possess all of the necessary permissions/ rights to that video.

The submitter grants the Berlin Music Video Awards the non-exclusive rights to
reproduce the video and/or part of the video, and to showcase the video for the
purposes of the festival and/or its promotion.

Please note:

The Berlin Music Video Awards does not guarantee that your submitted music
video will be shortlisted for the festival.

All information posted by the Berlin Music Video Awards is subject to change without
prior notice.

Music videos must not contain a credit roll (production credits) at the end of the video.

There are no submission-fee refunds for the music videos that failed to make it
into the competition.

Upon signing, I fully acknowledge and consent to the following: To the best of my
knowledge, all statements in this document are true and correctly represented. I
am duly authorized, on my behalf and on behalf of any person(s) or entity(ies) with
ownership rights to the music video, to submit this music video to the Berlin Music
Video Awards, and I attest that this submission is not in violation of any law or
legal statute, nor does it violate any right of said person(s) or entity(ies). I hold the
Berlin Music Video Awards, its officers, as well as any and all of its fiscal sponsors
and affiliated entities, exempt from any damage to, or loss of, any and all materials
submitted by me, whether or not that damage or loss occurs en route to and/or from
the festival, or during the course of the festival whilst the Berlin Music Video Awards
are in possession of said materials.

*1 In the event that the applicant is not the owner of the rights to the music video, but would still like to
submit it to the Berlin Music Video Awards, the applicant is required to obtain a statement which ensures
the owner (may it be the musician, the producer or the music label) grants permission to the applicant to
send in their work and publicly display it through the Berlin Music Video Awards and its connected events
and platforms. The signed statement should be attached to the application form.

*2 If the applicant is younger than 18 years of age, they are required to attach to their application a letter
by their legal representative (e.g. parents) enabling them to enter the contest. Due to legal restrictions
the Berlin Music Video Awards cannot accept applications by people under the legal age of 18 without
permission from their legal representative.

How to Submit

1. Download, fill in, and sign the Application Form. Send back pages 1 through 5. In case it’s not
working for you to type in the info, please type it into your submission email.
Please do not fill it out by hand write!
2. Send us your videos, preferably via www.wetransfer.com (create a download link).
3. We will send you a Paypal request; the payment amount will reflect the number of categories
selected on the Application Form. to add: The payment is both for the registration and the festival
tickets (guest list for the first 3 days of the festival).
4. Rename all application forms and video files into the format:
Song Title_ Name of Director or Production Company

In order to be accepted for screening, your video must meet the following technical criteria:

QuickTime HD (1920x1080p; 25fps; H.264 or ProRes 422)

The file must be smaller than 2GB.
(If your video is nominated, we will ask you for a higher resolution.)

Languages (all languages)

Submit to [email protected] with the subject line “SUBMISSION”.

Nominations

We will announce nominations in batches right after we officially open the call for entries.
Nominated music videos may be announced within one month from the time of submission until
approximately two weeks after the late deadline.
Notifications will be sent via Email.

Please note:

Some E-mail accounts have been blocking the newsletter system that we use to send out the nomination
anouncement. Please contact us if you haven’t received an Email (regarding the status of your
submission) by two weeks after the late deadline.

This year, 3 nominated videos will get a golden passes to the finals- the Best Music Video category. All
other participants who make it to the finals will be winners in the other categories.

If nominated, please submit the following:

• Director’s showreel (if you have one)

• Link to your social networks (Facebook, Twitter, etc.), including those of the musician/ artist, record
label, production company, etc.

This is to help us help you promote your music video and your nomination.

The Jury Panel

All winning videos will be chosen by a jury panel.

The winners will be chosen by a jury panel that consists of experienced filmmakers, musicians, and
experts in the music video industry from around the world. Information about our jury members for the
BMVA 2020 will be announced on our website.
