1. About the application

TOUCHCONTROL Professional is a PC add-on application for TOUCHCONTROL that enables you

to automate the running of your saunas, sanariums and steam rooms. For each day of the calendar,
you can preconfigure cabin parameters and preprogram the times at which you want your facilities
to switch on and off.
The application offers more than programming alone. It is also possible to display log files as well as
temperature and humidity readings on your PC. To do this, you require a Windows PC (the software
has been tested in the XP and Windows 7/32 and 64 bit environments), a fully installed and
group-configured TOUCHCONTROL system and a USB stick for transferring data between the two
systems.

2. Installation
2.1. System requirements

Operating system
Windows XP Service Pack 3 (32 bit) or Windows 7 (32 or 64 bit).

Hardware
Free USB port.

INFORMATION
Make sure that the USB port is easily accessible. A USB hub positioned on the desktop or monitor
can be very useful if your PC has no USB connection at the front.
The screen must have a vertical resolution higher than 800 pixels.
When using the large size Windows display (dpi value not equal to 96 dpi), a correspondingly
larger screen is required, e.g. at least 1,000 pixels for 120 dpi.

INFORMATION
Administrator rights are required during the installation.
Launch the setup wizard and follow the on-screen instructions. Ignore any warnings regarding a
missing signature, which may look like this:

The setup wizard is in English. The language of the application itself can be changed at any time
afterwards.

INFORMATION
Depending on your Windows 7 configuration, a UAC dialogue box asking for permission to
continue may be displayed.

Click on YES or OK to continue with the installation.

4. File type associations

INFORMATION
Please note that TC-Pro is programmed to work with files that have the extensions PDF and WRI.
PDF files are used for the help functions; WRI files are used for the command file.
TC-Pro is therefore designed on the assumption that the necessary programs that support these file
types have already been installed.
In a typical XP system, this is usually the case. Normally, Acrobat Reader is installed to handle the
PDF file type and WRI (Windows Write) files are opened directly in Windows Write or in Notepad.
In Windows 7, it may be the case that, depending on the type, there is no program associated with
WRI files. (TC-Pro will then display an error message if an attempt is made to edit the command file.)
In this case, you must create the association yourself.

To do this, open the system drive using Windows Explorer and navigate to the folder in which TC-Pro
was installed.
(Normally, in Windows 7/64 bit:
“C:\Program Files (x86)\TCProfi“
32 bit Windows
“C:\Program Files\TCProfi“)
Right-click on one of the WRI files in this folder and select the option “Open With“.

Then click on “Choose default program“ and select “Notepad“ as the default program.

Tick the checkbox next to “Always use the selected program to open this kind of file“ and close the
dialogue box with “OK“
For PDF files, if no such program is already installed, you simply need to download a compatible file
reader, e.g. Acrobat Reader from Adobe or an open source tool, such as Sumatra PDF.

5.1. General working practice/initialisation/data
storage/data flow
Before the application is launched for the first time, TC-Pro has no configuration data to work with. It
is therefore necessary to transfer the system configuration data from TOUCHCONTROL to the PC.
This data is transferred using the USB stick. Simply insert it directly into the active TOUCHCONTROL.
If this stick is being used for the first time, you may be asked whether or not you want to use the stick
with TC-Pro. If you answer this question with Yes, the stick will be set up for use with TC-Pro and all
available data will be copied to the stick, including the system configuration, existing log files and
measured values. As soon as the transfer is complete, you will be prompted to remove the stick. With
this stick, you are now able to launch TC-Pro on the PC. After you have started TC-Pro for the first
time, insert the stick into the PC and click to confirm.
TC-Pro saves its own process data to the PC automatically. There is no need to save this data
manually. The save location for the data depends on the PC's operating system. You can view this
under “Optionen->Einstellungen“ [Options->Settings]

(This assumes that Windows has been installed on C:)
Following successful data transfer, you will see the (initially blank) TC-Pro work screen, with all days
of the year still coloured yellow, i.e. marked blank. The work screen looks like this:

Starting from the year scheduler, which you can always see on the TC-Pro main screen, each day
must be assigned exactly one programme. You can create as many different programmes as you
need, but three to approx. ten different programmes are generally sufficient.

INFORMATION
It is strongly recommended that a (blank) programme be created even for closed days.
TOUCHCONTROL checks daily whether programmes for the next day exist on the system. If there is
none, a warning is displayed. To prevent this, you should assign a blank programme even to the
days on which your business is closed.
Creating a programme
Select “Programm“ [Programme] in the “Bearbeiten“ [Edit] menu and then “neu“ [new].
Give this programme the name “Mo-Fr“ [Mon-Fri]. You can choose any colour you like for the
programme, provided it is not yellow. To do this, click on the colour box. The standard Windows
colour dialogue box will appear.
Now select the desired switch points for each cabin in your configuration. In this example, the
system configuration comprises five cabins plus global extras.

Start with the first cabin (here, with the name “18033 02“).

Click inside the “Modus“ [Mode] field. A small dialogue box opens.

The start here is planned for 8 a.m. with the mode “Sauna“. In the same way, you can change any
other parameter by clicking inside the relevant column.
End the day with “AUS“ [OFF] at 8 p.m.

This is how an example programme for a particular cabin may look. Proceed in the same way to
configure all your other cabins.
“EXTRAS“ play a special role. These are functions that are connected separately by slave IMES.
Usually, these cannot be assigned directly to any cabin in particular. The number of adjustable
parameters here will vary, depending on your system's physical configuration.

In this example, there are four parameters: three binary parameters and one analogue channel.

Repeat the programme setup for the programme “Sa+So“ [Sat-Sun]. The programme “AUS“ [OFF]
can simply be created and remain blank. By now, you have created three programmes in total.

You can now assign the programmes of your choice to the appropriate days. The simplest way is to
begin by highlighting the whole year (drag the mouse from top left to bottom right), then right-click
and assign the programme “Mo-Fr“ [Mon-Fri] for the time being.

In the first column on the left, highlight all the individual Saturdays and Sundays (to select multiple
days at once, keep the Ctrl key pressed while you make your selections). To these days, assign the
weekend programme “Sa+So“ [Sat-Sun].

Finally, you can individually highlight all the days on which your company is going to be closed. For
example:

You have completed programming for the entire year. If your USB stick is still inserted in the PC (this
can be seen by the USB icon at the top left underneath the menu bar), you can transfer the
programmes and the yearly schedule that you have created to the stick (“DATEI->Programmdateien
auf USB Stick schreiben“ [File->Write programme files to USB stick]).
You should then “eject“ the USB stick by selecting “sicher entfernen“ [Safely remove] in the “DATEI“
[FILE] menu.

INFORMATION
Even if you think that you do not often encounter problems when you directly remove a USB stick
from the PC, you should get into the habit of ejecting all external storage media correctly before you
unplug them from the PC. Data corruption can often occur if devices are removed directly, especially
after write processes.
To eject a storage medium in Windows, click on the USB connector icon with the green tick in the
taskbar:

Now insert the stick into TOUCHCONTROL: The data transfer starts automatically. Wait until the
transfer has finished. You can then remove the stick and you have finished programming your system.

INFORMATION
IN TOUCHCONTROL, the following basic rule always applies:
SWITCH POINTS IN THE PAST CANNOT BE TRIGGERED RETROSPECTIVELY
The consequence of this is as follows:
Imagine you have programmed a start time of 8 a.m. for all cabins as part of the programme for the
current day. If you then copied this programme over at 11 a.m. or switched from manual to
automatic mode, the cabins would remain switched off for the rest of the day. It would not be until
the next day that the cabins would start at 8 a.m. (assuming that the next day has the same
programme).

6. Troubleshooting/logs

In the event of a malfunction or a problem, proceed as follows:

d Update the USB stick in TOUCHCONTROL
d Transfer the log data to the PC using the function “DATEI->Protokolldateien lesen“ [FILE->Import
log files]
d Create a single archive file using the function “DATEI->Dateien packen“ [FILE->Zip files].
File type TCPZIP, technically a normal zip file
d E-mail this to KLAFS

TC-PROFESSIONAL is associated with files with the extension TCPZIP. Double-clicking on one of the
files launches TC-Pro complete with the environment stored in the archive. This “archive mode“ is
recognisable by the different title line.

In this mode, all data transfer functions are inactive and there is no access to the USB stick. It is
required only for diagnostics purposes.

7.1. Datei [File] menu
INFORMATION
Commands marked with (*) are available only when a TC-Pro USB stick is inserted in the PC.

This command imports (after user confirmation) the current TOUCHCONTROL
configuration.
Please note that all existing programmes and the yearly schedule will be overwritten.
Under normal circumstances, you will use this function only when you use TC-Pro for the
first time. Thereafter, it will no longer be needed unless changes have been made to your
system's facilities.
2. Protokolldateien vom USB Stick lesen [Import log files from USB stick] (*)
Transfers TOUCHCONTROL log and measurement files to the PC.
3. Programmdateien auf USB Stick schreiben [Write log files to USB stick] (*)
Programmes and yearly schedules are written to the stick.
4. USB Stick sicher entfernen [Safely remove USB stick] (*)
Ejects the USB stick.
5. Dateien packen [Zip files]
All current files are zipped into a single ZIP archive. This can then be sent easily by e-mail
for diagnostics.
The name of the file is generated automatically “tcp_yyyymmdd_hhmmss.zip“.
The save location of the file is determined as follows:
If a USB stick is present, the data will be saved on this. Otherwise, the data will be
saved on D or C (attempts in this order).
6. Beenden [Close]
Closes TC-Pro. All current data will automatically saved. The actual save location can be
seen under “Optionen->Einstellungen“ [Options->Settings].

7.2. Bearbeiten [Edit] menu

Opens the dialogue box for editing programmes.
2. Steuerdatei [Command file]
Open the “tc_sps.wri“ file - for this to be possible, a compatible application for opening
WRI files must have been predefined. In Windows XP, this could be WRITE, for example.
This enables you to edit the PLC command file of TOUCHCONTROL.

1. Quick guide - SauNAPUR controller

The Klafs SaunaPUR controller enables you to operate your sauna quickly and easily. There are three
preset standard programs for the bathing mode (Sauna).
Any changes made to the standard program settings are saved in a custom program.
Only operate the touchscreen with your fingers.
Operating the touchscreen with hard objects will leave scratches on the screen's
surface or damage the screen.
Entering and changing settings will be quicker if a short pause of around 0.5 seconds
is left between presses.

After five minutes of non-use, the backlighting will gradually start to dim and then the
screen will switch off fully within a minute.
If you touch the display while it is dimmed or switched off, the backlighting will switch
on first. You will then be able to operate the controller via the display.

2. Bathing modes

All bathing modes in your Klafs Sauna have been designed to improve your general
health and well-being.
However, you should still take into account any pre-existing health conditions when
choosing your bathing program.
This includes:
d Temperature
d Infrared heat (optional)
d Bathing time.
Choose your bathing program according to its length and your condition. You should
end the session and leave the cabin if you start to feel unwell.

2.1. Sauna
Sauna
with temperatures of 85 - 100 °C and a low relative humidity.
SaunaPUR
Klafs new development brings back the tradition of Finnish stone steam baths.
With around 100 kg of olivine stones in the sauna heater, the sauna baths are even more
comfortable, and the heat infusions are more intensive. Using the SaunaPUR, you can
experience the feeling of an authentic Finnish sauna.
The sauna must be pre-heated to 70 - 85 °C long before use. When the bathing session
begins, the sauna heater is switched off using the SaunaPUR function.
The slowly decreasing temperature is counterbalanced by regular heat infusions. Using the new
bathing mode, it is possible to bathe in a sauna without switching noises and with reduced
electromagnetic radiation.
Warm air bath
with a particularly mild climate, temperatures of 45 - 60 °C and a relative humidity of up to
approx. 20 %.

2.2. InfraPLUS (optional)

Infrared heat
with an ambient temperature of 20 - 40 °C and variable intensity of 1 - 10 for the back heater
(41 - 43 °C).
You can also set the back heater to heat for between 10 - 30 minutes.

4. Intended use

The controller is intended for use with the heaters tested and approved by the German VDE
(Association for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) or TÜV (Technical Inspection
Authority):
d Sauna heater with or without evaporator
d InfraPLUS (optional).
The controller is only to be used as intended. Intended use also assumes adherence to the instructions
for operation, installation and servicing as prescribed by the manufacturer. The manufacturer is not
responsible for any damage resulting from unintended use or unapproved changes to the controller.
The user does these things at their own risk.
The controller may only be operated, maintained and repaired by persons who are familiar with it
and aware of the risks involved. Always observe the relevant German VDE regulations and other
generally recognised safety precautions.

5. Safety precautions for infrared emitter

Note the following information before using infrared emitters.

d Do not use the infrared cabin within 24 hours of being exposed to UV radiation from an
artificial source or sunbathing.
d Consult a doctor before using the infrared heat cabin if you are at risk of overheating or if you
suffer from cardiovascular diseases.
d Seek medical advice to avoid triggering erythema ab igne as a result of exposure to infrared
radiation. Do not expose yourself to the radiation again if the erythema becomes chronic (the
skin stays red for longer than one day) or if reticulated colour changes remain after regular
exposure to infrared radiation.
d Do not use the infrared cabin if you have reduced sensitivity to heat, have consumed alcohol or
have taken sedatives.

6. General safety information

Read and observe the operating instructions and safety precautions before commissioning.
d Disconnect the controller from the mains before opening the controller housing.
d The controller may only be connected to the mains by a locally authorised electrician.
d Only connect the sauna unit directly to the mains voltage via a fixed connection in accordance
with VDE regulations. Use a residual-current breaker InN v 0.03 A with at least 3-mm contact
opening in the connecting feed line.
d Contact Klafs customer service if faults cannot be rectified by a qualified electrician.
d Remote activation (remote power-on unit): Setting, controlling and/or adjusting the controller
using a command or a remote control unit performed outside of the range of vision of the sauna
heater. Remote activation (remote power-on unit) may be used only together with the
safety-contact switch (SCS) or the Bonatherm under-bench heater.
d Only use original Klafs spare parts.
d Unapproved changes to the controller are not permitted.
d Install the controller in accordance with the installation instructions.
d Electrical wiring inside the cabin and the cabin walls must have silicone insulation.
d Before commissioning the controller, always make sure that there are no flammable objects near
the sauna heater or infrared heater in the cabin. RISK OF FIRE!
d Do not use the sauna to dry your washing.
d Never use undiluted essential oils. Only use the indicated concentration (approx. 20-30 drops
of oil in one litre of water).
d Only use Klafs essential oil extracts.
d Never store the bottle containing the essential oil inside the sauna cabin.
d Regularly check the sauna heater for damage.
d Check the heater for flammable objects before restarting the timer or switching on the heater via
a separate remote activation system.
d The unit can be used by children over eight years of age, by people with reduced physical,
sensory or mental capabilities and by people who lack experience/knowledge in using it
provided that they are supervised while doing so and/or have been shown how to use the
cabin safely and understand the potential risks involved. Do not allow children to play in the
unit. Children should not clean the cabin or carry out basic maintenance on it without
supervision.

7.3. Touchscreen - Basic operation and display symbols

The control panel must be switched on at the main switch.

Operate the control panel by pressing on the touchscreen with your finger.
The touchscreen is divided into display sections and function symbols.
Functions are activated by pressing the symbols displayed.
Entering and changing settings will be quicker if a short pause of around 0.5 seconds
is left between presses.
When settings that can be changed are selected, they flash at a frequency of 1 Hz.
The controller will automatically cancel input mode and retain the existing setting if no
symbol is pressed or the altered setting is not confirmed by pressing the OK symbol
within five seconds.
After five minutes of non-use, the backlighting will gradually start to dim and then the
screen will switch off fully within a minute.
If you touch the display while it is dimmed or switched off, the backlighting will switch
on first. You will then be able to operate the controller via the display.

switch (optional)

Symbol: Display/function:
The cabin control function for operating the controller via the Klafs Sauna
app is only available for cabins that have WLAN installed and activated.

Performs a visual precheck of the inside of the cabin to ensure that there are
no flammable objects near the sauna heater or the infrared heater.
Notice: The cabin can only be started via the Klafs Sauna app if this visual
check has been carried out after the last sauna session.

Backlit ring is flashing:
The backlit ring will start flashing after you have pressed the cabin control
symbol. Open the sauna door within the next 30 minutes and check the
heaters for flammable objects, removing any if necessary. The backlit ring
will be permanently lit after closing the sauna door.
The cabin can now be started via the Klafs Sauna app.
Backlit ring is permanently lit:
The sauna cabin has been checked.
A bathing mode can be started via the Klafs Sauna app.
Backlit ring is off:
If the sauna door is opened after the visual precheck and before the session
has started, the backlit ring will go out. The cabin can no longer be
operated via the Klafs Sauna app.
If the sauna door is opened during the remote-control standby period and
the cabin temperature is less than 40 °C, the backlit ring will go out and
the controller must be reset.
The cabin cannot be started via the KLAFS Sauna app and bathing
parameters cannot be changed if a setting has been changed on the
controller or the sauna door has been opened during the remote-control
standby period.

When the PUR symbol appears, the cabin has reached the correct
temperature for the PUR bathing mode and it can be switched on.

switched off. The heat stored in the sauna stones is released.

7.7. Touchscreen - Section 3: Status bar

The status bar is for display only and has no touchscreen functions.
The symbol display depends on the configuration.

Symbol: Display/function:
WLAN is installed and activated.
The dot inside the symbol indicates that a WLAN module is installed.
The waves appear if there is a connection between the controller and a
router.
Green Sauna is activated. The function is switched on/off via a separate
touch key on the sauna.
When the Green Sauna function is switched on, any units that are not
required can be switched off. The cover flap of the ventilation system is
closed.
Output from the sauna heater is requested via the key switch.
The key symbol is displayed for 30 minutes after changing a bathing
parameter. Changes to a bathing parameter can be confirmed by pressing
the key switch on the sauna cabin within 30 minutes.
. When the key functions are activated, the settings and the key-switch
symbol remain displayed (for max. 30 minutes) until the key switch is
pressed.
The remote power-on unit is connected. The sauna can be operated via
both the remote power-on unit and the control panel.
The TOUCHCONTROL is connected. The touchscreen on the controller is
locked.
The Climate Manager is connected and in operation.
The Climate Manager automatically controls the speed of the fan.
The Klafs IMES-1 is connected. There are no faults in the data exchange
between Klafs IMES-1 and the controller.
The controller is in Service mode.

on or near the sauna heater or on the infrared heater.
On models with a key switch (optional), changes to bathing parameters in the sauna
cabin must be confirmed by pressing the key switch within 30 minutes.
The key switch symbol in the display goes out after confirmation.
Starting Sauna mode

1. Press the symbol (1).
The bathing parameters flash for approx. three
seconds. After that, the last program used for the
selected bathing mode is automatically started.
The backlit ring for SAUNA is displayed.
The sauna heater switches on and the cabin heats
up.
Once the cabin has reached the preset
temperature, the symbol (2) appears. The cabin is
ready to use.

Stopping Sauna mode

The PUR bathing mode is only available with the Sauna bathing mode.

Starting PUR bathing mode

. To start the PUR bathing mode, the Sauna
bathing mode must be started and the cabin
must reach the preset temperature.
Once the preset temperature has been reached,
the symbol (1) appears.
1. Press the symbol (1).
The bar for PUR is displayed.

. During PUR operation, the sauna heater is

switched off.
. The heat stored in the sauna stones is
released.
. After approximately 20 minutes, or once the
temperature in the sauna cabin has
decreased by approximately 15 °C, the PUR
bathing mode stops automatically. The sauna
heater begins heating again.
Stopping the PUR bathing mode

2. Step inside the cabin and put the backrest
into position:
Raise the backrest, swing it out and then set it
down on the bench.

Starting the SaunaPUR bathing mode

. Prerequisite: The target temperature must be reached. The symbol must appear in the display.
' If necessary, start the Sauna bathing mode, see page 22.
. It is possible to start the SaUNaPUR bathing mode using the controller or on the interior display
(optional).
1. Press the SaunAPUR bathing mode button.
. If appears in the seven-segment display, wait until the temperature for the SAUnaPUR bathing
mode has been reached. Then try again.
. When the SaUNaPUR bathing mode is active, the SaunaPUR bathing mode LED lights up.

10.1. Selecting the standard/custom program

For the Sauna and InfraPLUS* (optional) bathing mode, there is a custom program
(Pr 1) available in each case for personalised bathing parameter settings (temperature,
intensity* and bathing time).
For the Sauna bathing mode, there are three standard programs and for the InfraPLUS*
bathing mode (optional), there are four standard programs with fixed bathing
parameter settings available.
Changes to the bathing parameters are automatically saved to the custom program
(Pr 1) for the bathing mode selected.
If the personalised bathing parameter settings are the same as the settings in one of the
standard programs, the standard program is automatically selected.
. *) The ”intensity” bathing parameter is only available with the InfraPLUS bathing
mode (optional).

12.1. Cleaning the sauna cabin

The humidity in SAUNA bathing mode does not damage the wood of your cabin.
The cabin should always be aired properly after each session.
Never use a hose or pressure washer on the inner cabin walls, benches or seats.

Dirty benches
Wipe the wooden surfaces with a damp cloth.
Sand any rough surfaces on the benches with fine sandpaper if necessary.
The benches can also be rinsed with a 3 % hydrogen peroxide solution (available from specialist
dealers).
Disinfectants are highly corrosive.
It is therefore important to observe to the relevant safety precautions.
Always wear rubber gloves when cleaning the cabin.
The outer cabin walls have been varnished or waterproofed.
Do not varnish, paint or waterproof the inner panelling or the inner cabin walls and
units (benches, etc.).

12.2. Cleaning the touchscreen
