Comparison Between Two

Two-stroke and four-stroke engines differ in their thermodynamic cycles and components. A two-stroke engine completes its cycle in two strokes of the piston, requiring only one power stroke per revolution, while a four-stroke engine needs four strokes and two revolutions. As a result, two-stroke engines have a more uniform turning moment, allowing for a lighter flywheel, and can produce the same power from a smaller, more compact size. However, two-stroke engines have higher wear and require more cooling due to the single power stroke. Four-stroke engines are heavier with more complex valve mechanisms but have better efficiency, especially at part loads, making them more suitable when efficiency is important such as in vehicles.

Comparison between two-stroke and four-stroke engines can be done in aspects

like strokes required for thermodynamic cycle completion, weight of flywheel used,
engine size for producing the same power, rate of wear and tear in engine, by
identifying valves are present or not, engine cost, volumetric efficiency and thermal
efficiency.
