2.7 Daily maintenance of inverter
2.7.1 Daily maintenance
The influence of the ambient temperature, humidity, dust and vibration will cause the aging of
the devices in the inverter, which may cause the failure of the inverter or reduce the life of the
inverter. Therefore, it is necessary to carry out daily and periodical maintenance.

Note

The filter capacitor still has high voltage after the power supply is disconnected. Do not repair or
maintain the inverter immediately after the power supply is disconnected. The repair or
maintenance can be conducted only after the charge LED is off and the bus voltage measured
with multimeter is less than 36V.
1. Items for daily inspection:
1) whether there is any abnormal change in the running sound of the motor
2) whether the motor has vibration during the running
3) whether there is any change to the installation environment of the inverter
4) whether the inverter heatsink fan works normally
5) whether the inverter has over temperature
2. Daily cleaning:
1) the inverter shall be kept clean.
2) the dust on the surface of the inverter shall be effectively removed, so as to prevent the dust
falling into the inverter, especially the metal dust.
3) the oil stain on the inverter heatsink fan shall be effectively removed.
2.7.2 Periodical inspection
The places hard to be inspected during the operation of the inverter shall be inspected
periodically.
1. Items for periodical inspection:
1) Check and clean the duct periodically
2) check if the screws are loosened
3) check if the inverter is corroded
4) check if the wire connector has arc signs

- 11 -

5) main circuit insulation test

Note: When using the megameter (DC 500V megameter recommended) to measure the
insulating resistance, the main circuit shall be disconnected with the inverter. Do not use the
insulating resistance meter to control the insulation of the circuit. It is not necessary to conduct
the high voltage test (which has been completed upon delivery)
2.7.3 replacement of vulnerable parts for inverter
The vulnerable parts of the inverter include cooling fan and filter electrolytic capacitor, whose
life depends on the operating environment and maintenance status. Common life time:

Part name Life time damage cause judgment standard

capacitor
load jumping, capacitance, measure the
electrolyte aging insulating resistance
2.7.4 Storage of inverter
The following shall be paid attention to for the temporary and long-term storage of the inverter:
1) Place the inverter back into the packing box following the original package
2) Long-term storage will degrade the electrolytic capacitor. The product shall be powered up
once every 2 years, and the power-up time shall be no less than 5 hours. The input voltage
shall be increased slowly to the rated value with the regulator.
2.8 Instruction on warranty of inverter
Free warranty only applies to the inverter.
1. Our company will provide 18-month warranty (starting from the leave-factory date as
indicated on the barcode) for the failure or damage under normal use conditions. If the
equipment has been used for over 18 months, reasonable repair expenses will be charged.
2. Reasonable repair expenses will be charged for the following situations within 18 months:
1) The equipment is damaged because the user fails to comply with the requirement of the
operation manual;
2) Damage caused by fire, flood and abnormal voltage;
3) Damage is caused because the inverter is used for abnormal function.
The service expenses will be calculated according to the standard of the manufacturer. If there
is any agreement, the agreement shall prevail.
2.9 Braking component lectotype guidance (including IP type)

A. DC bus (+) and(-) terminals:
The DC bus (+) and(-) terminals still have residual voltage at the time of power-off. Do not
touch the equipment until the charge LED is off and the voltage measured with multimeter is
less than 36V.
To release the energy fed back during the brake operation, external braking unit shall be

connected to the DC bus (+) and(-) terminals for the ME320L inverter whose power is more
than 37KW, and the P and PB terminals of the braking unit shall be connected with braking
resistor. Please note that the connecting polarity must be correct, otherwise, the inverter may
be damaged, and fire may be caused. The wire length between the braking unit and the DC bus
terminals (+) and(-) shall not exceed 5 meters, and the wire length between the braking unit
and braking resistor shall not exceed 10 meters. Twisted wires or pair wires shall be used and
connected in parallel.
Do not connect the braking resistor directly to the DC bus, otherwise, the inverter may be
damaged, and fire may be caused.
B. Braking resistor terminals (+), PB:
The 30KW below ME320L inverters have built-in braking unit. To release the energy fed bank
during the braking operation, the (+), PB terminals must be connected to braking resistors.
For the lectotype of the braking resistor, please refer to the recommended value in braking
resistor lectotype table in chapter 2.
The wire length of the braking resistor shall be less than 5 meters.
The temperature of the braking resistor will increase because of the release of energy.
Relevant protection and heatsink shall be provided.
C. Inverter output side U, V, W:
The inverter output side is connected to the three-phase motor. When the rotation direction of
the motor is different from the actual requirement, the connection any two pieces of the U, V
and W wires can be exchanged to change the rotation direction of the motor.
The inverter output side cannot connect to the capacitor or surge absorber, otherwise, frequent
inverter protection may be caused, or the inverter may be damaged.
It is prohibited to short circuit or ground the output side.
The inverter output wires of U, V, W shall penetrate into the grounding metal pipe and laid out
separate from or vertical to the control circuit signal line.
If the wire between the motor and the inverter is too long, because of the influence of the
distribution capacitor, the high-frequency current of the circuit may cause resonance, which
may damage the motor insulation or produce large leakage current to trigger inverter
overcurrent protection. In general, the length shall be no more than 100 meters. When the
distance is longer than 100 meters, AC output reactor shall be installed.
D. Grounding terminal:
The grounding terminal of the inverter must be well grounded. The grounding wire shall be wide
and short. It is recommended to use the yellow green 4mm2 above stranded copper core
grounding wire, and ensure that the grounding resistance is no more than 5Ω. The grounding
terminal must be exclusively used for grounding. It is not allowed to share the grounding
terminal and the zero line of the power supply.

Chapter 4 Inverter Operation and Trial Running

Chapter 4 Inverter Operation and Trial Running

This chapter details the key board operation of the operation and display panel of the ME320L
elevator-specific inverter and the relevant setting of the function codes.
4.1 Terms of ME320L inverter
The basic terms of ME320L inverter include four types: operation mode, control mode, running
mode and operating status.
4.1.1 Operation mode
The operation mode means how the inverter receives the running command and speed
command. The ME320L inverter can only select one of the following operation modes:
Operation panel control: To realize the output control of the inverter through the RUN and
STOP keys on the operation panel.
Terminal command control: The running command and running speed are controlled by the
input signals from the multi-function input terminals.
Communication command control: The running command and running speed are provided
through communication.
4.1.2 Control mode
The ME320L inverter provides three control modes:
Vector control without speed sensor (SVC)
Vector control with speed sensor (VC)
V/F control
4.1.3 Running mode
Running in autotune mode: The ME320L series inverter provides two motor self-learning
modes: with load and without load. For details, please refer to the description of parameters
F1-11.
Running in common mode: The running under operation panel control and with analog
reference is called running in common mode.
Multi-speed running: When the running speed is controlled by multiple speed combinations, it
is called multi-speed running.

4.3.1 Three-level menu operation process:
The operation panel parameter setting of the ME320L inverter adopts three-level menu
structure. Thus, it is convenient to check and change the function codes and parameters.
The three levels of menus are: Function parameter set (level 1 menu)→function code (level 2
menu)→function code set value (level 3 menu). The operation process is as shown in Fig.4-2

Chapter 5 Function Parameter Table

Chapter 5 Function Parameter Table

This chapter details all the functions of the inverter and the relevant information for the
reference of users.
5.1 Function parameter table
The function parameters of MEL320 series inverter are classified by functions. They are divided
into 15 groups, including F0~F9, FA~FF, FP, etc. Each function group has certain function
codes. The function codes adopt three-level menu. The FX-XX characters appearing in other
sections of this manual indicates the no. XX function code of group X. For instance, “F8-08”
indicates function code no.8 of group F8.
To facilitate the function code setting, when operating through the operation panel, the function
group no. corresponds to level 1 menu, the function code no. corresponds to level 2 menu, and
the function code parameter corresponds to level 3 menu.
Description of column content of function table:
Column 1 “function code”: Number of the function parameter group and parameters; column 2
“name”: full name of the function parameter; column 3 “setting range”: the effective setting
range of function parameter value, which is displayed on the LCD of operation panel; column 4
“minimum unit”: the minimum unit of function parameter value; column “factory set value”:
The original set value of the function parameter upon delivery; column 6 “change” the change
attitude of the function parameter (i.e. whether is it allowed to change the parameter or not and
the change conditions), shown as follows:
“☆”: indicates that the parameter value can be changed on the inverter, in stop status and
running status
“★”: indicates that the parameter value cannot be changed on the inverter, and in the running
status
“●”: indicates that the parameter value is the actual detection record and cannot be changed.
(the inverter has automatically limit the change attitude of the parameters to avoid the mistaken
operation of the user)
The “LCD display” is effective only when the LCD Chinese/English operation panel is used.
“Leave-factory set value” means the refreshed value of the function code parameter when
recovering the leave-factory parameter. But the actual detection value or record value will not
be refreshed.
To effectively protect the parameters, the inverter provides password protection for the function
code.
5.2 Function table
5.2.1 Grouping of function tables
All the level 1 menus displayed after pressing PRG key and UP/DOWN key are the function
groups. The detailed list is as follows:

Leave-factory
F0-00 Control mode 1
value
Set range 0: Vector control without speed sensor (SVC)
1: Vector control with speed sensor (VC)
2: V/F control
The ME320L provides high performance vector control technology. Users can select the
running mode through F0-00.
0: Vector control without speed sensor
means the open loop vector control. It is mainly used to control the running at the
commissioning stage or the failure judgment operation during the maintenance. please note
that this mode only applies to the asynchronous motor. The synchronous motor can only adopt
the closed loop control.
1: Vector control with speed sensor
means the closed loop vector control. It is suitable for the high-precision speed control of the
elevator. During the normal operation of the elevator, the ME320L should run in this mode.
2: It is applicable to the special elevator applications, in which the rotary encoder is not needed,
but the control effect is not so good as vector control.
Note: Motor parameter identification must be conducted when selecting the vector control
mode. Only when correct motor parameters are provided can the vector control mode be fully
made use of. Better performance can be achieved by adjusting the speed adjustment
parameters (group F2).

2: AI1
3: AI2
4: communication setting (special card used)
Select the inverter speed input channel. There are 4 channels:
0: Digital setting
The speed of ME320L adopts the digital set value of the inverter. The initial value is the setting
of F0-03 “digital set frequency”.
1: Multi-speed
When this parameter is selected, the inverter adopts the multi-speed running mode. the
correspondence relation between the reference signal and reference frequency shall be
determined by group F4 “input parameters” and group F6 “speed parameters”.
2: AI1 3: AI2
It means that the frequency is determined by the analog input terminal. The ME320L series
inverter provides 2 analog input terminals as standard. AI1 is for 0~10V voltage input. AI2 can
be used for 0~10V voltage input or 4~20mA current input, which can be selected by the J3
jumper on the control panel.
4: communication setting (special card used)
With the special expansion card, the ME320L can receive the speed reference through
communication mode.

F0-05 maximum frequency 50.00Hz
value
Set range 10.00Hz~90.00Hz
It is used to set the maximum output frequency of the inverter. When frequency above industrial

account.
Leave-factory Model
F0-06 carrier wave frequency
value dependent
Set range 0.5~16.0kHz
This function is used to adjust the carrier wave frequency of the inverter. By adjusting the
carrier wave frequency, the motor noise can be reduced, the resonance of the mechanical
system can be avoided, so that the leakage current to the ground and the interference of the
inverter can be reduced.
When the carrier wave frequency is low, the output current higher harmonic component will be
increased, the motor loss will be increased, and the motor temperature rise will also increase.
When the carrier wave frequency is high, the motor loss is reduced, and the motor temperature
is reduced also, but the inverter loss and inverter temperature rise will be increased, and thus
the interference will be increased.
The adjustment of carrier wave frequency will have the following influences on the
performance:
carrier wave frequency Low ~ high
motor noise high ~ low
output current waveform poor ~ good
motor temperature rise high ~ low
inverter temperature rise Low ~ high
leakage current low ~ high
radiation interference low ~ high

0: no operation
1: static tuning, applicable to asynchronous motor and the applications where rotary tuning
cannot be conducted because it is not easy to remove the load.
action description: Set the function code as 1 and press RUN key for confirmation, and then
the inverter will conduct static tuning.
2: complete tuning action description: Set the function code as 2 and press RUN key for
confirmation, and then the inverter will conduct rotary tuning.
To ensure the dynamic control performance of the inverter, please select rotary tuning. During
the rotary tuning, the motor must be disconnected with the loads (i.e. no-load).
After selecting rotary tuning, the inverter will conduct static tuning first. After the static tuning is
finished, the asynchronous motor will accelerate to 80% of the rated frequency of the motor
according to the acceleration time set in F7-00 and maintain for a certain period of time, and
then decelerate to zero speed according to the deceleration time set in F7-01, and the rotary
tuning is finished. The synchronous motor will have forward and reverse stepping to judge the
PG origin.
tuning operation description:
Set F1-11 as 1 or 2 and press ENTER key, “TUNE” is displayed and flashes. And then press
Run key to conduct parameter tuning, and the displayed “TUNE” stops flash. After the tuning is
finished, the display will return to the stop status interface. The tuning can be stopped by
pressing the STOP key.
When the tuning is finished, the value of F1-11 will automatically restore to 0.
Note: When permanent magnetic synchronous motor is used, complete tuning shall be
conducted. The reason is that the tuning will identify the origin of the installed encoder in
addition to identifying the relevant parameters of the motor. It is prohibited to run the permanent
magnetic synchronous motor before the complete tuning.
▲ The autotune steps for the motor parameters of asynchronous motor are as follows:
Set F0-01 as 0: the control mode adopts the operation panel command channel control;

- 63 -
Chapter 6 Parameter Description

set F1-00 as 0 according to the actual motor type: asynchronous motor. Set F1-01, F1-02,
F1-03, F1-04 and F1-05 correctly according to the motor nameplate.
If the motor is completely disconnected with the load, select 2 (complete tuning) for F1-11, and
then press RUN key on the keyboard. The motor runs automatically, and the inverter
automatically calculates the following motor parameters:F1-06 (stator resistance), F1-07
(rotator resistance), F1-08 (leakage inductive reactance), F1-09 (mutual inductive reactance)
and F1-10 (no-load exciting current). After that, the motor tuning is finished. if overcurrent
appears, correspondingly increase the value of F7-00 and F7-01.
If the motor is not completely disconnected with the load, select 1 for F1-11 (static tuning), and
then press RUN key on the keyboard. The motor runs automatically, but the inverter will only
measures the stator resistance, rotator resistance and leakage inductive reactance in turn. The
mutual inductive reactance can be calculated according to the no-load current.
▲ The autotune steps for the motor parameters of permanent magnetic synchronous motor are
as follows:
(1) Set F0-01 as 0: the control mode adopts the operation panel command channel control;
set F1-00 as 1 according to the actual motor type: permanent magnetic synchronous motor
Set F1-01, F1-02, F1-03, F1-04 and F1-05 correctly according to the motor nameplate.
(3) disconnect the elevator traction motor completely with the load (steel rope), and select 2 for
F1-11. Press RUN key on the keyboard, the motor runs automatically, and the inverter
automatically calculates FA-04 and FA-05 (PG magnetic angle), and then the motor tuning is
finished.
(4) After the tuning is finished, set F0-03=10.00Hz, and press RUN key to check if it can run
normally. If there is any abnormality, change the PG signal direction and repeat steps 1, 2 and

The speed dynamic response characteristics of the vector control can be adjusted by setting
the scale coefficient and integral time of the speed regulator. Increasing the scale gain or
reducing the integral time can accelerate the dynamic response of the speed loop. However, if
the scale gain is too large or the integral time is too short, it will cause the oscillation of the
system.
Recommended adjustment method:
If the leave-factory parameter values cannot meet the requirement, the relevant parameter
values can be subject to fine tuning. Increase the scale gain while ensuring no oscillation to

The ME320L inverter has 4 pre-torque setting options. The DI setting, AI1 setting and AI2
setting need to use the weighing sensor. When using the pre-torque compensation functions,
the system can output the torque matching the elevator load in advance to ensure the
instantaneous comfortability when the elevator opens the brake. The output pre-torque shall be
no more than the torque upper limit (F2-08) . If the calculated pre-torque is larger than F2-08,
the torque output by the system shall be the set torque upper limit F2-08.
- 67 -
Chapter 6 Parameter Description

During the application, if the elevator has no weighing compensation, set F3-09 as 4, and then
adjust the pre-torque offset parameter of F3-12, so that before the brake is opened, ME320L
can fully perform pre-excitation to improve the startup comfortability. However, this parameter
cannot be set too large. In general it shall be within -15%~15%.

The pre-torque offset is the elevator balance coefficient. It

means the proportion of the elevator counterweight in the
rated load of the elevator. If the carriage weighs G1 when
unloaded, the counterweight weighs G2, and the rated load
of the elevator is G3, the pre-torque offset is (F3-10)
=(G2-G1) /G3.
Assuming that the weight in the carriage is G4, the motor
pre-torque output will be:
motor pre-torque output=pre-torque gain*|G4-(G3*(F3-10)) |
The output pre-torque direction is independent of the running

direction. It is only related to the load in the carriage. If the

load in the carriage is more than (G3*(F3-10)) , the output
pre-torque has upward direction, otherwise, it has downward
direction.

The ME320L series inverter has 3 pre-torque modes: digital weighing signal, analog weighing
signal and pre-torque offset. F3-13~F3-16 corresponds to the setting of digital weighing input
signal. The four settings correspond to weighing terminals 1~4 one by one, and they are used
in pairs. The setting of the four function parameters indicates the load percentage in the
carriage when the signal is valid. For example, if the load of certain carriage reaches 10%, the
signal of weighing terminal 1 is valid, the setting of parameter F3-13 will be 10%. When the load
in the carriage exceeds 10%, the ME320L inverter can identify the current carriage load through
the signal of weighing terminal 1 and completes the pre-torque function. When several
weighing signals are valid, the signal indicating larger load shall be used.

The ME320L inverter provides four groups of acceleration/deceleration time for selection. For
details, please refer to the description of group F7. Function codes F6-08~F6-15 can be used
to set the corresponding acceleration/deceleration time of each speed, 1~4. In this way, when
the motor is in different running status, different curve has different acceleration/deceleration
time.
Special note: In acceleration situation, the acceleration time of the destination speed and S
curve setting of the acceleration time are adopted. In deceleration situation, the acceleration
time of the initial speed and S curve setting of the acceleration time are adopted.
For instance: F6-01=0 HZ, F6-03=8 HZ, F6-05=48 HZ, F6-09=2, F6-11=3, F6-13=4, when the
speed needs to accelerate from F6-01 to the high speed of F6-05, the acceleration time used is
the acceleration time selected byF6-13, 4(F7-12) ; when the speed needs to decelerate from
F6-05 to F6-03, the deceleration time used is the deceleration time selected by F6-13,
4(F7-13) ; when the speed decelerates from F6-03 to F6-01, the deceleration time used is the
deceleration time selected by F6-11, 3(F7-09) .
It is the process for the elevator to complete one round of operation in the multi-speed control.
In this process, the acceleration/deceleration time of the high speed is generally set as 3~4
seconds. However, in the deceleration process from creeping to zero speed, the deceleration
time parameter value can be different with the normal deceleration time. In this case, increasing
the value of F7-05 properly can ensure the smooth speed transition during the stop process.

The four groups of acceleration/deceleration time have the same meaning. F6-08~F6-15 can
be used to select the acceleration/deceleration time and S curve characteristics in speech
segment (multi-speed combination) during the operation of the inverter.
The acceleration time means the time needed for the inverter to accelerate from 0Hz to the
maximum output frequency (F0-05) , t1.
The deceleration time means the time needed for the inverter to decelerate from the maximum
output frequency (F0-05) to 0Hz, t2.
See the following figure.

Time

Set acceleration time Set deceleration time

Actual acceleration time

Fig.6-8 schematic diagram of acceleration/deceleration time
When the set frequency equals the maximum output frequency, the actual acceleration/
deceleration time is the set acceleration/deceleration time.
When the set frequency is less than the maximum output frequency, the actual acceleration
time = set value ×(set frequency/maximum frequency).
The ME320L series inverter has 4 groups of different S curve. In each group, the acceleration
and deceleration combination is symmetrical, as shown in the following figure (take
acceleration of S curve 1 as an example): T1 is the parameter defined by F7-02. In this period
of time, the output frequency change slope (i.e. speed change rate, same as below) increases
gradually. T2 is the time defined by F7-03. In this period of time, the slope of the output

frequency change gradually decreases to 0. In the time between T1 and T2, the output
frequency change slope is fixed.

6.11 Group FA PG parameters
The ME320L series inverter may adopt asynchronous motor vector control or permanent
magnetic motor vector control. However, because of the different control principles of the
motors, different rotary encoders (PGs) shall be used. The asynchronous motor may use the
push-pull or open collector type encoder, while the synchronous motor may use the long-cable
driven UVW rotary encoder.
Leave-factory
FA-00 Number of PG pulses 1024
value
Set range 0~65535
In general elevator application, the motor’s rotary encoder is a necessary component. FA-00 is
the number of pulses per revolution of the rotary encoder. During the use, this parameter must
be set correctly. Otherwise, overcurrent may be caused.

Leave-factory
FA-01 PG wire-break detection time 3.0s
value
Set range 0~10.0S
If the PG pulse signal is lost during the operation of the motor, it is impossible to correctly
control the motor. The ME32O series inverter will detect the pulse signal of the rotary encoder
all the time. When the pulse signal abnormality is found to exceed the time setting in FA-01, the
ME320L will immediately generate alarm (PG failure) and stop operation. When the FA-01
setting is less than 2.0s, the alarm function will be cancelled.
Leave-factory

Set range 0: reserved
1: reserved
The output signal of the rotary encoder is the quadrature pulse signal. The inverter can identify
the rotation speed as well as the rotation direction of the motor from the signal. If the wiring of
the rotary encoder is inconsistent with the motor wiring, control overcurrent or PG failure may
- 94 -
Chapter 6 Parameter Description

be caused. If normal operation cannot be realized after correct pulse number of the encoder is
set, exchange the output phase sequence of line A and line B of the encoder.
The judgment of the ME320L inverter on the PG direction can be changed through FA-02. when
wiring inconsistency occurs, the user only needs to change FA-02.
The direction invert of FA-02 is equivalent to the exchange of line A and line B of the actual
rotary encoder.
Leave-factory
FA-03 PG magnetic pole angle 0
value
Set range 0~359.9
When conducting permanent magnetic synchronous motor control, the ME320L series inverter
needs the initial angle of the UVW rotary encoder to judge the rotator position of the motor, so
as to ensure the high-precision control of the directions. The ME320L records the initial angle of
PG through FA-03. The parameter of this function code is set according to the position of the
rotary encoder. If the user knows about the configuration of the system, he may set the
parameter by himself.
Only when this parameter is correctly set can the ME320L series inverter realize the control of
synchronous motor. The control of asynchronous motor does not need this parameter.
Leave-factory
FA-04 current angle of PG 0.0
value
Set range 0~359.9
During the control of permanent magnetic synchronous motor, the UVW encoder will feed back
the rotary position of the motor to FA-04 of the inverter in time. This parameter is a key
parameter for the high-precision control of the permanent magnetic synchronous motor.
The FA-04 has mains loss save function and is only related to the synchronous motor control. It
is unrelated with the asynchronous motor control.

FC-02 and FC-03 are the modes in which the ME320L inverter realizes forced deceleration.
These two function codes are for judgment of the ascending and descending of the elevator
respectively (note: When the inverter receives RUN forward command, the elevator ascends.
When it receives Run reverse command, the elevator descends) At the input instance of the
upward (downward) frequency judgment signal (forced deceleration switch signal), the ME320L
checks if the running frequency of the inverter exceeds the detection level of FC-02(FC-03) . If
it exceeds, the inverter will decelerate to stop according to the time set in FC-01. Besides,
during the ascending period, the downward frequency judgment signal is inactive, and vice

set as 100%, the rotation speed of the motor is close to the reference speed. If the load is less
than the rated load, the coefficient can be less than 100%. If the load is more than the rated
load, the coefficient can be larger than 100%.
FD-03 indicates the oscillation suppression gain. When the motor has no oscillation, set this
parameter as 0. Only when the motor has obvious oscillation and does run normally can the
gain be properly increased. The bigger the gain is, the better oscillation suppression result will
be. Parameter Setting method: The value should be as small as possible while effective motor
oscillation suppression shall be ensured.

ME320L Series Elevator-Specific Inverter
The chapter mainly introduces operation ways of ME320L series elevator-specific invertors and
the typical operating situation, such as power-off emergency operation, maintenance operation.
7.1 Multi-speed Control Mode
Multi-speed control mode is the relatively common mode adopted in elevator control. It features
powerful anti-interference, great adaptability and easy resolution. However, in the traditional
multi-speed control, the acceleration/deceleration curves for different speed assemblies
switching are the same and influence each other, which causes the user to miss some part
during the practical commissioning process. For multi-speed control, ME320L series inverter
has made special design. Each multi-speed combination can be flexibly used for different
acceleration/deceleration curves. It is convenient for commissioning by user in the practical
application.

7.1.2 Parameter Setting

On the basis of commissioning sequence of elevator and most typical operation mode, the part
carries out three times of parameter adjustment in corresponding with Fig.7-1(without
expansion card): motor tuning, maintenance operation, acceleration operation. If more
inputs/outputs are required, such as enable function, it can be realized through adding
expansion card.

D. Acceleration/deceleration time of maintenance operation (Set the corresponding
acceleration/deceleration time according to the selected curve. The set value is determined by
elevator speed).
Note: If the system wires the inverter through adding expansion card, or the terminal function is
not consistent with the schematic diagram, please set the corresponding parameters of F4 and
F5 before the maintenance operation.
3) Acceleration operation
When the elevator enters acceleration commissioning stage, the commissioning of the inverter
shall consider if it is comfortable to use the elevator. The parameters are set as follows:

correctly set, and ensure that F0-00=1 has speed sensor vector control.
B. Set all frequencies of corresponding speed combination.
C. Set the corresponding curves of all frequencies. (It is recommended to use curve 1 for
acceleration operation. If there are several speeds in the acceleration operation, it is
recommended to be used in the min speed.))
D. On the basis of comfortable feeling, set acceleration/deceleration time of each curve and the
time of start/end segments of the curve.
E. Adjust F2 and F3 parameters according to the comfortable feeling of operation and

7.3.2 Parameter Setting and Operation Curve Diagram
As a special operating situation, there is strict national standard requirement for maintenance
operation. It is operation curve is greatly different from the acceleration operating of elevator.
In the multi-speed control mode, if the maintenance input is effective, ME320L series drive will
judge the maintenance operation speed according to F6-16 function code set. For example, If
F6-16=3, the elevator receives forward(reverse) running command and there is maintenance
input terminal signal, ME320L will run at the target frequency of multi-speed 3. The acceleration
time is determined according to the corresponding time of multi-speed 3. During the stop
process, if remove the maintenance input signal first, the system will reduce the speed to 0
according to the speed-reduction time of multi-speed 3 until the removal of forward/reverse
command(As shown in the diagram, the speed reduction time can be very short during the
speed-down process, such as 1s, which is able to ensure fast stop).

7.4 Power Failure Emergency Operation
During the use of the elevator, if the power supply of the system is suddenly cut off, which may
cause the passenger to be locked in the carriage.
ME320L adopts two power failure emergency operation modes: UPS power supply operation
and 48V battery operation.
48V battery power supply: The main circuit of ME320L adopts 48V battery as power supply.
The other operation power of the elevator is the UPS(or inverter power) power over 220V.The
motor runs depending on the power from the battery, and the operation power can be very
small.
UPS power supply: The main circuit and operation power of ME320L both adopt UPS power for
power-failure emergency operation.
The following takes 48V battery operation as an example for explanation.

The operation signal of battery is the one provided by elevator controller, which is connected to
ME320L through DI terminal to judge whether the current operation is battery operation.
Contactor K1, K2 and K3 are controlled by elevator controller.
7.4.3 Precautions
1. Reasonably set the operation speed, battery operation acc./dec. time according to the
practical situation of the elevator. It is recommended that the acc./dec. time shall be over 10s.
Set the battery operation speed according to the following formula:
Battery operation speed <(48V-5V)* motor rated frequency/(1.414*rated voltage)
2. Input DC voltage 48V to main circuit through battery and input operation power through
auxiliary power, such as UPS.
3. It is recommended that the stable output current of the battery shall be over the no-load
current of traction machine.
4. ME320L judges whether it is the battery operation according to input terminal(DI). At the
moment, the operation speed of ME320L is multi-speed, and the corresponding acc./dec. time
of multi-speed is the acc./dec. time of battery. The part that is different from the normal
operation: During the operation process of battery, curve acc./dec. are straight line acc./dec.;
5. During the battery operation process, ME320L inverter will not perform DC bus voltage test.
Therefore, when opening the brake, ensure that ME320L inverter main circuit has input 48V
voltage.
6. During the battery operation process, ME320L will monitor the speed. If the speed is over
8Hz, failure protection (E032) is required.
7. When the battery is operating, the drive load operation shall be avoided. Therefore, the outer

- 115 -
Chapter 7 Application and Commissioning of ME320L Series

controller shall select balanced load or brake load as operating direction.

8. During the power failure emergency operation, pay attention to the operating sequence of
contactors of main power and UPS connected to inverter. They cannot be closed at the same
time, otherwise, UPS or battery will be damaged.
7.5 Analog Weighing Commissioning
In ME320L, FWD(forward running) is the up-direction of the elevator, REV(reverse running) is
the down-direction of the elevator, which is the basis of the following analog weighing
commissioning.
7.5.1 Parameter Setting
Assuming that taking AI1 as pretorque input channel, then parameter F3-09=2, F3-10=elevator
balance coefficient. When the carriage is under no-load, check AI1 sampling value and enter it
into F3-18 through the parameter switching of operation panel; Meanwhile, when the carriage is
under full load, enter the sampling value of AI1 into F3-19.The above two parameters can be
determined through weighing auto-learning.
Finally, adjust F3-11 to select proper compensation, which can be about 0.6.
7.5.2 Commissioning of Inexact Balanced Coefficient
After the correct no-load compensation, the load-increment effect in the carriage will be not so
good on some sites, which is caused by the inexact balanced coefficient of the elevator.
If the balanced coefficient is unknown, the compensation of no-load and full load can be taken
to determine the balanced coefficient and F3-11(gain), which can make the compensation
effect of the system consistent.

Fig.7-10
As shown in the above figure, set F3-10 as 50% and perform no-load auto-learning under the
no-load situation of the carriage; then move the elevator up and down and adjust F3-11,
observe whether there is carriage rolling when the brake starts the motor suddenly. If there is
no carriage rolling or over-torque compensation when the elevator moves up/down caused by

- 116 -
Chapter 7 Application and Commissioning of ME320L Series

the motor torque compensation, take down F3-11=B; Apply full-load to the carriage and perform
full-load auto-learning, move the elevator up and down and adjust F3-11, if the compensation is
proper, take down F3-11=A.
In the diagram, it shows the slanting line is the correct compensation curve of the elevator. The
point for the curve to pass through the horizontal axis is the balanced compensation point of the
elevator, which corresponds with the balanced coefficient of the elevator. On the basis of the
above test, calculate:
F3-10=100*B/(A+B) , F3-11=(A+B) /2,
For example, if it is B=0.7 in the no-load test, A=0.4 in the full-load test, the corresponding
balanced coefficient shall be set as F3-10=36.4%, F3-11=0.55.
7.5.3 Commissioning under Different Operating Directions
If it is set that the forward running corresponds with down movement, the reverse running
corresponds with up movement on the site, the above method will make the compensation
worse. Because the compensation direction is wrong. Under this situation, record sampling
value F3-18, F3-19 when the carriage is no-load and full-load and the balanced coefficient
F3-10, such as: F3-18=X,F3-19=Y,F3-10=Z, then, F3-19=X,F3-18=Y,F3-10=100-Z
