Flash and Fire Point Using The Cleveland Cup Method Conclusion

The lab determined the flash point and fire point of petroleum products using the Cleveland cup method. The flash point indicates a substance's flammability and is used in shipping and safety regulations, while knowing the flash and fire points helps avoid damage from excessive burning. A separate lab tested concrete masonry units for their compressive strength since failure often occurs under compression loads. Specimens were made and then compressed in a load machine to estimate the magnitude of load they could sustain before failing.

Flash and Fire Point using the Cleveland Cup Method

Conclusion

The lab is done to determine the flash point and the fire point using the Cleveland cup method which is

commonly used for the petroleum products. The flash point is essential since it can determine the

tendency of specimen to form a flammable mixture and is used in shipping and safety regulations to

determine the flammable and the combustible material. Therefore, it is important the know the flash

and fire point to avoid damage or excessive burning.

Testing of Concrete Masonry Units

Conclusion

Masonry units are widely being utilized due to their compact size and working. Their properties must be

evaluated especially the compressive strength since the most common failure is under compressive

loads. Therefore, the specimens made are afterwards testes with the compressive loading to qualify for

the mentioned strength. The lab is done where masonry units were tested with the load machine to

estimate the compressive magnitude it can sustain before failing.
