Summary
My fundamental interests are in the applications of computing in large-scale, data intensive domains such as bioinformatics, data mining, environmental simulation, geoinformatics/GIS, physics, predictive analysis, etc. I have spent the past 15+ years conducting research and development in several key areas including: Distributed systems technologies Enterprise system architectures Geospatial computing / geographic information systems (GIS) Temporal computing / time series analytics Spatial / spatio-temporal models and simulations
I have been conducting enterprise-level architecture and design of software systems for the Department of Defense (DoD) for over 7 years. Additionally I have over 10 years of research expertise in geospatial systems for clients such as Naval Research Labs (NRL), National Aeronautical and Space Administration (NASA), Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and the Air Force Research Labs (AFRL). I have authored several papers and proposals for small and large scale projects. My proposal efforts have resulted in wins for contracts in excess of $100M. I have managed small development teams (1-10 developers) and served as technical lead on several topic-specific sub-teams on large-scale projects. I have extensive experience in field research and data collection, which yields special insight into the practical implementation constraints for scientific observation and monitoring systems.
