2. Physical connection
The computer can be connected to the Emotron product in the following ways:
CAUTION!
! Problems can occur while using non isolated ports because of the connection of the pins
that have different potential. This may damage the ports. Be extra careful when external
devices are connected to the terminals of the control board, as the 0V terminals of the
control board and the GND in the RS232 terminal have the same potential.
Note!
For RS232 communication a straight cable must be used. A cross-cable (zero modem cable) doesn’t
work.
CAUTION!
! Cable Fault and Hardware issues detection is not handled in application. Only
Communication failure message and time out shall be displayed.
RS232/RS485
or Modbus/TCP
Step3: Select the path to install EmoSoftCom Application using “Browse” Button and Click “Next”
to continue. Default Path to install the application c:\EmoSoftCom.
Note!
Application folder path should be without space, ex: c:\EmoSoftCom.
Note!
If the system needs administrative rights for installing the software, then please install it into other
than “C:”-drive.
Step3: Uninstall wizard will be asked for confirmation - Click on “Yes” to uninstall, “No” for closing
the uninstall wizard.
Note!
Wizard won’t remove the application generated file, example: “Trigger Folder”, “LogData folder” and
“setting.set” file.
When a new software version of the control card unit is released, a new csv-file will be generated. The
csv-file can be downloaded using FTP link from the parameter view.
4.1 Start up
EmoSoftCom always start with Normal user.
1. Scan Unit: On Click of “Scan unit” button, User can perform auto scan operation
2. Add Unit: User can add unit manually on RS232, RS485 and TCP/IP port
3. Logged on as User Mode: On click of “Normal” or “Service” text user can change the user Mode.
4. Language change: On Click of Language button, User can select any language out of 10 supported
languages.
Note!
Change user login is not applicable when the oscilloscope is running (recording in-progress). User
should stop the recording and change the user mode.
1. Login Username: This application supports two user levels “Normal” and “Service”.
Service mode is Password protected.
2. Password:
This field is enabled only for Service level as it is password protected and is disabled for Normal
level.
Service Level Password: “password is only accessible for service engineers, and not for regular
users.”
Service mode has additional support and information as listed below:
a)Advance settings like guru (Setting) in connect View
b)Parameter View:
•Hidden Parameter Group E00, P00 and S00
•Modbus value for A, B, C and D sets shall display as Format1, Format2, Format3 and Format4
respectively.
3. Reset button clears the username and password fields and sets the default Username as “Normal”
and password field shall be disabled.
4. Once the required fields are filled (PW), on Click of Login button, User Mode will be changed to
selected user.
5. Menu Bar: File, Setting and Help
6. Application Name
7. Alerts and notifications are to warn the user as well as to provide information regarding the
connection faults, system status, success and failure messages etc.
Note!
All Success message shall display in “white” colour text and failure message shall display in “Red”
colour text.
1. Scan units: User can perform Auto scan of device on click of “Scan units” Button.
2. Add Unit: User can add the device manually, one by one using port connection RS232, RS485 or
TCP/IP.
3. Display list of added devices on different port of communication;
Connected/Disconnected Devices on RS232, RS485 and TCP/IP Port
Units on file: Configuration file (New, open) from parameter view comes under this list.
TCP/IP Configuration:
5. Start IP Address for TCP/IP (Example: 192.168.0.95)
6. End IP Address for TCP/IP (Example: 192.168.0.120)
7. Start scan: On click of start scan button Auto scanning will start.
8. Cancel: On click of cancel button, Auto scan configuration pop-up will close.
On click of “Start Scan”: Application shall start scanning as per configuration settings, to check the
number of units connected. While Auto Scan Progress bar gives the information of the number of
devices found and percentage (%) of completion of Auto scanning.
Note!
Auto scanning clears previous connected/disconnected devices.
Note!
While the auto scan is in-progress, on click of “cancel” button, auto scanning will stop. “Load to
Drive” will start only for Detected device.
1. Select the Communication Mode: User shall add the devices one by one manually, in any
communication port RS232, RS485 and TCP/IP. Select the particular tab to add the device.
2. Unit ID number (Slave Address ID)
3. Baud rate is selected from the dropdown list.
• 2400, 4800, 9600, 19200, 38400, 57600 and 115200 bps
• Default is 9600 bps
4. Data file selection:
• Automatic (Default):
As per AC Drives software version, Application selects the same version of CSV file or any lower
available version from CSV file folder.
a) When communication is started, Type is first requested. In the example below, the connected
unit responds “FDU”.
b) Secondly, Version is requested. In the example below, the connected unit responds “V4.20”.
c) EmoSoftCom 3.11 creates a file name: unit + version + “.csv”.
Example: “FDU” + “V4.20” + “.csv” = “FDUV4.20.csv”
d) EmoSoftCom 3.11 searches in the actual directory for the created file name
If, for some reason, the file doesn’t exist, the data file has to be selected manually. This is done by
clicking the radio button Manual and by click on the button Browse. A file selection window
appears.
• Manual:
Using Browse button user shall select the path of higher or lower version of available CSV file.
Only the selected CSV contains the parameter configuration.

Trigger Type: User can select the trigger type from dropdown list. Three types are available in the list
Raising Edge, Falling edge and both.
Value: Enter the high and low threshold for selected signal and Trigger Type.
Trigger Type
Raising Falling Both
High Enable Disable Enable
Value
Low Disable Enable Disable
• If users select the Trigger type as “Raising”, user can enter only the high value and the
low value will be disabled.
• If users select the Trigger type as “Falling”, user can enter only the low value and the
high value will be disabled.
• If users select the Trigger type as “Both”, User can enter the High and low value.
Trigger can generate if selected signal cross the any threshold value (High or Low).
Capture Time (Delta Time): User shall enter MM (minute) and SS (second) capture time before
and after start of trigger point using dropdown option.
Before Time: Data for the specified time before the occurrence of trigger
After Time: Data from the start of the trigger to the specified time.
Total waveform capture time = Before Time + After Time
If signal levels cross the threshold, recording will start. Recording stop after completion of set time.
Recorded wave form shall be stored in TRIGGER folder in application path. User can load the
Trigger file for offline analysis, same as record file.
Trigger indication shall blink (Red and Gray LED) in oscilloscope view, So that user will get the
information trigger start and on completion of trigger blinking shall stop.

Number of Trigger: User can set the Single and multiple trigger option to record the trigger
waveform. It can be single or multiple. In case of single sample, the trigger is set to be active for only
once the value reaches as per the specified conditions.
Single: Only once the trigger shall be considered, example: selected waveform cross the threshold
many times, only first time trigger shall be generated. Next time when the signal crosses the
threshold, trigger shall not be generated.
Multiple: Multiple Trigger waveform file shall be generated and stored in TRIGGER folder, there
are two options for multiple trigger
Maximum Total file size (in MB): User shall set the size of trigger folder, multiple trigger file shall
consider to record. If folder size cross the Set size (in MB), Trigger shall not be considered for record.
Default is 1 MB.
Note!
In case of Number of trigger Multiple, if user select trigger time (before + after = 1Hrs.) and Maximum
total file size 1 MB. First preference to trigger Duration, if trigger recording file size is more than 1
MB, Trigger file will save for 1Hrs. (as per setting Trigger duration is 1 Hrs. approximate file size 1.247
kB). In this case if trigger occur again (second time). Application won’t consider trigger due to
previous file size is already cross 1 MB. This note is applicable for conditional trigger also.
