    The main issue relating to Reconstruction that divided Republicans at the end of the Civil War
    was how long the south would be punished and how severely. Lincoln and Johnson believed
    that it would be best for the country to heal quickly and let the south join the Union without any
    punishments so everyone could be united, but the Radical Republicans believed that the south
    didn't deserve the easy way in. Out of all honesty I would agree with the Congressional
    Reconstruction plan because it gives the south time to wind down, realize they've done wrong,
    and in time bring them into the Union so we can be whole.
