Region Story of a Province in Luzon Region 2- Cagayan Valley - It is located at the northeastern part of Luzon. Region 2- Cagayan Valley - Isabela is one of the five provinces in Region 2. Region 2- Cagayan Valley - Isabela is the second largest province in the Philippines next to Palawan. Region 2- Cagayan Valley - It is composed of 3 cities, 34 towns and 1055 barangays. Region 2- Cagayan Valley - In 2010, the population has reached 1.5 million. Region 2- Cagayan Valley - It was part of Cagayan and Nueva Viscaya. Region 2- Cagayan Valley - On May 1, 1856 in accordance with the royal decree, it became a province independent from the nearby provinces. Region 2- Cagayan Valley - The province was named after Queen Isabela II of Spain. Region 2- Cagayan Valley - This way during the administration of Governor General Juan Antonio de Urbiztondo in the Philippines. REGION VI- (WESTERN VISAYAS) ILOILO - The province is composed of two cities, 42 towns and 1721 barangays. REGION VI- (WESTERN VISAYAS) ILOILO - Its population has reached 1.81 million in 2010. Origin of the Province - Iloilo got its name from the word irong-irong because of its nose-like shaped. Origin of the Province - According to the legend of Maragtas, Iloilo’s history started in the thirteenth century. Origin of the Province - Datu Puti and his company escaped from the harsh ruling os Sultan Makatunao of Borneo. Origin of the Province - They landed in Panay where they found the Aetas under the leadership of King Marikudo and Queen Maniwangtiwang. Region 10- Northern Mindanao (Misamis Oriental) - It is composed of 3 cities, 23 towns and 42 barangays. Cagayan De Oro is our provincial capitol. Region 10- Northern Mindanao (Misamis Oriental) - In 2010, the population of Misamis Oriental reached 813, 856 and it continues to increase every year. Changes in my Province - It was just a part of Cebu City. - In 1818, it became a district that was divided into four, Misamis, Dapitan, Cagayan and Catarman. Changes in my Province - In the latter part of the nineteenth century, Misamis became one of the 6 districts of Mindanao. Changes in my Province - After that it became part of the 7 districts. It was part of a big province called MISAMIS before. Changes in my Province - On January 1, 1930 it was divided into two Misamis Oriental and Misamis Occidental. Changes in my Province - This was through Republic Act Number 3537. Don Gregorio Pelaez became the first governor of Misamis Oriental.
