Region
Story of a
Province in
Luzon
Region 2- Cagayan Valley
- It is located at the
northeastern part of
Luzon.
Region 2- Cagayan Valley
- Isabela is one of the five
provinces in Region 2.

- Isabela is the second
largest province in the
Philippines next to
Palawan.

cities, 34 towns and
1055 barangays.

- Iloilo province is known as the
“Heart of the Philippines”. This
is because it is located at the
central part of the country.

- It is also in the middle
of islands of Panay that
is “heart shaped”.

its nose-like shaped.

- In 1885 Iloilo became a
part of the world trade
thus its economy grow. It
became one of the leading
provinces in the country.

once Munisipyo de Iloilo
became a province in 1893.

Martin Delgado, all towns

Region 10- Northern

- It is one of the five
provinces in Region 10
or Northern Mindanao.

- It is composed of 3 cities,
23 towns and 42 barangays.
Cagayan De Oro is our
provincial capitol.

- In 2010, the population of
Misamis Oriental reached
813, 856 and it continues to
increase every year.

- It was just a part of Cebu
City.
- In 1818, it became a district
that was divided into four,
Misamis, Dapitan, Cagayan
and Catarman.

nineteenth century,
Misamis became one of
the 6 districts of
Mindanao.

part of the 7 districts. It
was part of a big
province called
MISAMIS before.

was divided into two
Misamis Oriental and
Misamis Occidental.

Republic Act Number
3537. Don Gregorio Pelaez
became the first governor
of Misamis Oriental.

of the leading provinces
in Mindanao especially
in trade.

people, bountiful land
and water forms and
locally made products.

- Misamis came from
the word “misa”.

to the country, priest made
rounds in the communities
to celebrate mass.

- The people upon seeing them
would yell “ Misa! Misa” Later,
the Spanish missionaries
called the province Misamis.
