Artificial Intelligence: Learn Beginner To Advance

The document discusses artificial intelligence (AI), including definitions of AI as systems that can perform intelligent tasks like visual perception, speech recognition, and translation between languages. It provides examples of AI such as self-driving cars, robots, chatbots, and smart email filtering. The document also covers the history of AI, differences between weak and strong AI, applications like expert systems and robotics, the Turing test for measuring intelligence, and benefits of AI like reducing human casualties in dangerous situations.

What is Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Artificial Intelligence is the development of computer systems

that are able to perform tasks that would require human
intelligence.
AI is intelligence exhibited by machines. In computer science, an
ideal "intelligent" machine is a flexible rational agent that
perceives its environment and takes actions that maximize its
chance of success at some goal. Kismet, a robot with
rudimentary social skills.
Examples of these tasks are visual perception, speech
recognition, decision-making, and translation between languages

History Artificial Intelligence (AI)

History 1943 : McCullough and Pitts’ invented “artificial neurons”

1950 : Inventions of Alan Turing’s “Computing machinery and
Intelligence”.
1951 : AI was using in Games.
1956 : Dartmouth conference; And the birth of AI.
1965 : Robinson’s complete algorithm for logical reasoning. 1969
– 79
Early development of knowledge based systems took place. 1980
– 88 : Expert system industry booms.

Difference b/w Strong A.I Weak A.I

Weak AI: Machines with weak Artificial Intelligence are made to

respond to specific situations, but can not think for themselves
Strong AI:A machine with strong A.I. is able to think and act just
like a human. It is able to learn from experiences.

Applications of AI

Expert System: An Expert System is a computer program

designed to act as an expert in a particular domain
They have been used in medical diagnosis, chemical analysis,
geological explorations etc.
Natural Language Processing The goal of NLP is to enable people
and computers to LP communicate in a natural (humanly)
language(such as, English) rather than in a computer language.

Applications of AI

Speech Recognition The primary interactive method of

communication used by humans is not reading and writing, it is
speech. The goal of speech recognition research is to allow
computers to understand human speech. So that they can hear
our voices and recognize the words we are speaking.
Robotics A Robot is a electro-mechanical device that can by
programmed to perform manual tasks or a reprogrammable
multi functional manipulator designed to move materials, parts,
tools, or specialized devices through variable programmed
motions for performance of variety of tasks.

Turing Test

In the 1950s Alan Turing created the Turing Test which is used to
determine the level of intelligence of a computer.
If a computer can play game just as well as a human then the
computer is said to be “pass” the “test” and shell be declared.

Benefits of AI

The most important purpose of A.I. is to reduce human

casualties in
➔ Wars
➔ Dangerous Workspaces
➔ Car Accidents
Natural Disasters Or to just make everyday life easier by helping
with tasks such as:
➔ Cleaning
➔ Shopping
➔ Transportation
