FAMILY

Can you tell me something about your family?

Well, there are 5 members in my family. My father is an engineer. He enjoys

drinking coffee, taking care of plant and listening to Trinh’s music. My mother is a
nurse. She is keen on cooking and shopping.

Where does your family live?

Frankly speaking,, I was born in Quang Nam. It is located in the central part of Viet
Nam. It is famous for beautiful views and friendly people.

Who is the closet person in your family?

Tobe honest, my mother is the closest person in my family because she shares with
me everything including sorrows and happiness. She is always side by side me
when I have difficulties.

JOB

Do you work or are you a student?

Actually, I am a fourth-year student. I study …….. at Da Nang University of

Education (DN University of Science and Technology)

Why do you choose to study that major/ job?

Tobe honest, I choose to study……. Because it has been a dream since I

was a high school student.

Do you think you will change your major?

Well, I won’t change my study. I always dream of becoming a teacher/ an engineer

in the future.

FREE TIME
What do you often do when you have free time?

Well, I enjoy catching up on the gossip with my friend. It helps me release the
pressure. In addition, I am also interested in listening to some favorite songs in my
free time because music keeps me entertained and helps me be in a merry mood.

To be honest, I’m an avid reader. Books help me widen the knowledge, improve
patience and cultivate the way of thinking.

HOLIDAYS/ VACATION/ DAYS OFF

What do you enjoy doing when you have a holiday?

Well, I want to go traveling around the country when I have a holiday. Especially,
I am very interested in Da Lat. It is a flower’s city. The weather is very
comfortable in Da Lat. It is famous for friendly people and many beautiful places.

Do you prefer staying at home to going out?

To be honest, I don’t enjoy staying at home during the holiday because it is very
boring. I’m an extrovert person.

TRANSPORTATION

How did you come here today?

Actually, I came here by motorbike. My mother gave it to me on my 18 th birthday.

What kind of public transport in your city?

Well, Public transports like in my town are bus, taxi, grab.

Do you think people should use public transport?

Personally, I think people should use public transport. Because it has many
benefits:

- Firstly, it saves money

- Secondly, it reduces traffic congestion

- Finally, it decreases air pollution.

HOMETOWN

Tell me something about your hometown?

Well, my village is QN. It is located in the central part of VN. Living cost in here
is very cheap. Air is fresh. In addition, it has reputation for friendly people and
beautiful views.

What do you like about your town?

Actually, I enjoy local cuisine, friendly people, cheap living cost and peaceful life.

What jobs do people in your town do?

Frankly speaking, people in here almost are farmer, workers; a part of locals are
teachers, doctors, office workers,…
Do you like to live in the countryside or in the city?
In my opinion, I prefer living in the city because of many benefits:
- Firstly, it offers us job opportunities and facilities for study
- Secondly, it is hectic
- Finally, we will access to modern life.

SHOPPING

Do you enjoy going shopping?

Actually, I am interested in buying new clothes because it helps me keep up with

the newest fashion trend

How much time do you spend shopping every week?

To be honest, I am a student so I do not have much money. Therefore, I go

shopping twice a year or on some special occasions

Do you enjoy going shopping alone or with your friends?

I enjoy going shopping alone because I like choosing my favorite clothes by

myself and I do not want to depend on other’s opinions

KEEPING FIT

What do you do to be in shape?

To be in shape/ To keep fit, I eat more vegetables, drink enough water every day,
do morning exercise and go to bed early,
What is your favorite sport?
My favorite sport is football. It has been my favorite sport almost for 10 years,
when I was 15 years old. Playing football regularly helps me keep fit and become
stronger.
How can we get young people do more exercise?

In my opinion, government should build up some free sport centers and encourage
citizen/ the young to participate/ join in some sport events. In addition to, we
should explain the importance of doing exercise towards their health

TELEVISION

What sorts of thing do you watch on TV? = what is your favorite TV program?

I prefer watching comedy because it brings me a sense of humor and adds a bit of
fun to my life.

Do you think it is a good idea to have a TV in a bedroom?

I don’t agree with this idea because it will affect to your eyes and break up a family
relationship. You will be lazy to communicate to other family members.

WEATHER/ SEASON

What is your favorite weather/season?

I was born in the spring ; that is also a main reason why I love Spring. This season
has a warm climate and brings a full of vitality to all people.
Does the weather effect the way you feel?

Of course, the weather effects the way I feel. For example, in the hot weather, I
have a tendency to become angry. However, in the winter, I feel comfortable and
am interested in reading my favorite books and enjoy a cup of hot coffee.

Do you like the weather in your country?

Actually, I am keen on the weather in my country because it has 4 seasons in a
year; each season has unique characteristics that create a beautiful picture of Viet
Nam.

MUSIC

What is your favorite type of music?

My favorite genre in music is country music, because it has sweet melodies and
meaningful.
Do you think music is important?

To my mind, music plays an important role in human’s life because of its benefits.
Firstly, it helps human add a bit of fun to the life.

Secondly, we can release stress after listening our favorite type of music

Finally, music and lyrics touch our emotions.

If you could learn a musical instrument, what will you choose?

If I have a chance to learn a musical instrument, I will choose to play a guitar

because it has some positive effects

Firstly, It has a reasonable/ affordable cost/ price

Secondly, It is quite easy to learn and practice

Finally, It is popular with students like me

HOBBIES

Do you have a hobby?

Well, Reading books is my hobby. I usually have a bed time reading because it
helps me widen knowledge and cultivate the way of thinking.

What hobbies are popular in your city?

Each age has different hobbies. For children, they are keen on watching cartoon
film, going to the zoo or the park

For teenager, they are interested in going shopping, going traveling or coffee shop

For the old, they enjoy reading newspaper, playing chess, drinking tea in the
morning and talking to their old friends

Why do you think people should have hobbies?

Hobbies are indeed essential in our life. Having a hobby brings us joy and
enriches our lives. It gives us something fun to do during our leisure time and
affords us the opportunity to learn new skills

FESTIVAL
What is the most important festival in your country?

The New Year festival is the most important to all Vietnamese citizens. It is a
great time to think about what we have done in the previous year, and to make
plans for the upcoming year.

Do you think this festival is still important in the future?

Personally, I think it still plays an important role in Vietnamese life because it is a

unique characteristic of Vietnamese.

How do people do to mark this festival?

There are some common things that people do during this festival such as: visit
relatives, give children “lucky money”, decorate the house, buy new clothes, make
“chung” cake…

READING BOOK

Do you like reading books?

Frankly speaking, I am an avid reader. Books play an important part in my life.

What kind of book do you like?

I am a big fan of novel because it has great contents and I sympathize to
main characters in the story.
Do you think people should encourage children to read books?

To my mind, it is essential to encourage children to read books because it

helps children improve their patience and memory.

PETS

What is a popular pet to have in your country?

In my country, the popular pet to have is dog because it gives our home
security and makes a great friend.

TECHNOLOGY

Do you often use Internet?

In the time of technology booms, I often use Internet to update information,

check mail or keep up with relatives and friends

FOOD

What is your favorite food?

I am a food lover so it is very hard to pick one favorite. But if I have to
choose, it would be Quang noodles because it is my local traditional cuisine.
Is there any food you dislike?
Tobe honest, I am a picky eater. I don’t like spicy food because it is harmful
to my health.
What is a healthy diet?
In my opinion, a healthy diet is a diet that helps to maintain or improve
overall health. A healthy diet provides the body with essential nutrition
