The text discusses the ideal structure of filters and considerations for imitation filters.

The text discusses that imitation filters need to consider their structure, elements, and pressures that can cause wrinkles or pass pollutants. It also discusses fixed vs non-fixed pore sheets.

The text discusses that the filtration mesh can be too small, causing short replacement periods and pressure increases from blocked particles, or too large, allowing large particles to pass through.

※ Precaution and Proper Maintenance instructions

(1) Start to maintenance after you have the full knowledge of the machine.

(2) Use genuine parts (If not, HHI will not reimburse for the failed parts arising from
the wrong use of maintenance check item).

(3) Use the recommended oil.

(4) Remove the dust or water around the inlet of oil tank before supplying oil.

(5) Drain oil when the temperature of oil is warm.

(6) Do not repair anything while operating the Engine. Stop the engine when you fill
the oil.

(7) Relieve hydraulic system of the pressure before repairing the hydraulic system.

(8) Confirm if the cluster is in the normal condition after completion of service.

(9) For more detail information of maintenance, please contact local Hyundai dealer.

1) Symptoms
- Every attachment doesn’t work(Main pump not work).
- Hyd. oil color is dark.

2) Checks
ⓐ Disassembly of the Main pump
- Piston Shoe (1ea) missing.
- Excessive rear of Piston shoe.
ⓑ Hyd. tank inspection (Damaged Main pump)
- Sticky polluted (dark colored) oil on the Return filter
(and on the bottom of the tank).

3) Remedy
- Main Pump Ass’y replacement and hyd tank cleaning.

4) Remarks (Pictures for the damaged Main pump and polluted Return filter)

(Polluted Return filter)

(Damaged Piston Shoe)

5) The reason why sticky oil is in the hyd. tank

- Muddy cloud inflow to the Tank through the Breaker.
- Muddy cloud and pollutant got into the Hyd. System in hot temperature, and so the sticky oil is piled up
on the bottom of the tank.

2. Ideal filter structure

1) Base of support (Higher/Lower)

: Good flow distribution and strength are required.

2) Filtration pads
: Good filterability and long life are required. Filter hardware

3) Filter hardware
: Strong fixation and smooth flowing are required.

3. Considerations for the Imitation filter

1) Structure -1
Element(Non-supported)

Compressed wrinkles
(caused by high pressure)

Location of fatigue injury

Core

Tidal surge flow and high pressure injure Element and push Pollutant through
the filter.

HHI Training Center page 36

2) Structure -2

Fixed pore sheet Non-Fixed pore sheet

(1) Fixed pore sheet

- To get rid of filtration performance caused by pressure, flow variation, heat and age,
Fibers are fixed with Resin.

(2) Non-Fixed pore sheet

- Fibers are not regularly lined up or joined with Resin.
- Fiber grids are movable, so they can be cut with easy. Enlarged pores can pass the
large particles through the filter, so Oil pollution will proceed quickly.

HHI Training Center page 37

3) Filter specification

(1) Filtration mesh is too small

- Filter replacement period will be short cause of excessive filtration.
- Oil flow will be disturbed by the filtered small particles. (Pressure increasing)

(2) Filtration mesh is too large

: Refer to the upper No 1. section.

4) Consideration of filterability

- Filtration ratio is OK?

※ Filterability (Beta ratio)

Particles gone through Filter (larger than the target particle, X μm)
Beta ratio( )=
Particles not gone through Filter (larger than the target particle, X μm)
