Module 5: UNDERSTANDING THE 3D AUTOCAD ENVIRONMENT

5.1 3d command tools

In the three (3) dimension environment the first thing to do is to


switch the workspace from Drafting annotation to 3D Modeling

Set the UNITS, LIMITS and LAYERS same as procedure in


Module 2.

Setting the WORKSPACE into 3D model space the following commands tools in MENU BAR
(Home, Solid, Surface, Mesh, Visualize, Parametric, Insert, Annotate, View, Manage,
Output, Add-ins, Collaborate, Express Tools and Features Applications

5.2. setting the drawing into three view port

In setting for the workspace into three view port

Command: Select VISUALIZE from the main MENU Bar / select


VIEWPORT Configuration (Fig. 1)
Select THREE RIGHT (Fig.2)

To activate the different viewport double click the desired view port thicker boundary line with
means it is activated.

Designate viewport A to be the TOP configuration, B for the Front Configuration and C southwest
isometric.

5.3 How to set coordinates into view port.

Command: Activate Viewport / Home / View/ Name Views / select TOP for A
Same procedure for B and C

Short Cut method: On the viewport upper left side select TOP ( Figure 3) select coordinate desired

5.4 How to set visual styles in the drawing space

Command: Activate the Viewport / HOME/ VIEW/ select down dropped arrow in 2D wire frame
different options for visual styles may be chosen.

Short Cut Method: On the Viewport upper Left side select 2D wireframe different options will be
display select the type of visual style desired. But 2D wireframe must be used in creating the object
and realistic is used when rendering or for visual presentation. (Figure 4)
