Assignment 1

The document compares and analyzes the activities of making a cup of tea, making a collage with a free theme, and making a phone call to confirm attendance at a birthday party. It asks whether the levels of challenge differ between the activities and how. It finds they require different levels of energy, patterns (structured vs projective), tools, materials, space, and social components. The second part analyzes how physical, social, cultural, personal, temporal and virtual contexts can interfere with making a phone call based on textbook examples. The third part relates routines, habits, rituals and roles to the student's own life.

Read pages 49-51 in chapter 3 of attached reference , -
then identity how the physical , social , cultural ,
personal , temporal and virtual context interfere with
the performance of the activity of making a telephone
. call to confirm the attendance of birthday party
1. Physical context: The temperature of the room in which the call is
made will affect the operation. For example, it may not be subjected to
ventilation and lead to inconvenience to the person so that he cannot
accomplish the goal of the call.
Also the health status of the person performing this operation, if it is
good, the call will achieve its desired goal.

2. Social context: Regardless of the purpose of the call, the person needs
a quiet place that enables him to make the call while maintaining his
privacy, so he cannot make such a call in his workplace, for example.

3. Cultural context: In our societies we open the call by saying hello or

greeting Islam, and the method of narrating the purpose of the speech
supports the purpose of the call, and this also depends on the cultural
customs and traditions known in the community On the other hand,
choose an appropriate time to make the call, for example, the call
cannot be made late.

4. Personal context: If the person is old and is not used to using the
phone, he cannot confirm that he will attend the party.

5. Temporal context: Some people, of course, take a long time to talk

over a call, on the other hand, there are some people who are able to
speak briefly and clearly without the need for a long time to
communicate the idea.

Virtual context: The quality of the phone plays an important role in .6

this respect, for example if the handset is not good, the person will not
be able to communicate his voice clearly and this may cause the sound
to be interrupted at times and in an activity such as this dependence is
large in terms of the default context related to the virtual environment
in which this activity occurs. Here the phone needs to be efficient and
work well
