I. Use appropriate examples and/or diagrams to support your answer/arguments.


II. Avoid plagiarism. Do your own work which should involve your personal efforts and
contribution. Plagiarism is not allowed at all.
III. This is a group assignment, maximum members 4, and minimum 2.
IV. Date of Assignment:- 19-02-2020, Wednesday
V. Date of submission:- 26-02-2020, Wednesday
VI. Form of submission: - Hard copy (typed) and Soft copy (email) both.

Ques 1:- Being an HR specialist, provide your opinions and interpretations for the following
scenarios.

a. “Motivation is the primary responsibility of line managers. HRM’s role in motivating


organizational employees is limited to providing programs that equip line managers with
means of motivating their employees.” Do you agree or disagree with the statement? Explain
your position.

b. You have been offered two positions in HRM. One is a Recruitment Officer in a large
manufacturing company, and one is a Training Specialist in a large telecommunications
corporation. Which of the two jobs do you believe will give you more involvement in a
variety of HRM activities? Defend your answer.

c. Would you rather work for an organization where everyone knows what other are earning
gradually (salary, wages, increments, bonuses, overtime payment, leave encashment or any
reward which involves cash compensation or monetary returns) or for an organization where
this information is kept secret? Why?

Ques 2:- “The HR manager’s basic responsibility is to enhance his/her understanding for
optimizing human resource potential in order to achieve firm’s strategic objectives.” What’s your
analysis of this statement with respect of HRM?

human resource management in practice.

Ques 4:- What is a High-Performance Work System? Provide one specific examples for each of
the four typical components in a High-Performance Work System.

Ques 5:- Briefly discuss and illustrate (with examples) each of the five important trends
influencing human resource management practices in today’s changing and competitive business
environment?
