Trouble-shooting Table for Mechanical Faults/Faults in Refrigerant Circuit

The following table shows a survey of possible faults in mechanical air condition
components, which would not always be determined by a check of the electrical
components.

Fault Characteristic

AC cooling inadequate.
AC cooling interrupted.
AC does not cool.
Extreme operating noise from AC.
Water in interior.

Possible Cause Test Step

No.

  Ribbed V-belt loose or worn. 01

 Receiver-dryer or condenser loose. 02
 Coolant hoses chafe on body or engine. 03
  Compressor loose or defective. 04
 Inadequate air circulation at condenser 05
(air through-put between plates blocked or auxiliary
fan defective).
  Incorrect amount of refrigerant. 06
 Air distribution hoses kinked, constricted. 07
 Condensation drain hose blocked or kinked, Air 08
distributor housing leaky.
 Inadequate refrigerant circulation. 09
  Control valve defective, evaporator iced. 10
  Expansion valve blocked, dirty or defective. 11
 Air distributor housing defective (cracks, holes). 12
 Lack of compressor lubricant. 13

No. Remedy

01 Repair automatic tensioner/replace ribbed V-belt.

02 Tighten bracket bolts, replace bracket if necessary.
03 Fasten coolant hoses, replace fastening loops if necessary.
04 Fasten or replace compressor (if necessary, repair magnetic clutch).
05 Clean condenser plates and eliminate blockage in plates/repair
radiator or auxiliary fan.
06 Check refrigerant circuit for leaks, drain air conditioning, evacuate
and fill with correct amount of refrigerant.
07 Eliminate kinks, constrictions, interruptions, install hoses correctly.
08 Eliminate blockages/kinks, seal air distributor housing.
09 Drain air conditioning, locate and eliminate blockage, evacuate and
charge air conditioning.
10 Ensure condensatation drainage/replace compressor control valve.
11 Replace expansion valve.
12 Repair or replace air distribution housing.
13 Top up compressor lubricant (50 ml).
