Group 3 - Case – Tanaka Komuten
Guideline questions to be used during case discussion. The group is encouraged to
use other aspects during the discussion.
Is there an industry logic/rationale in JV proposal?
What is the market rationale? What is the rationale from Tanaka’s POV? What is the rationale from Atlas POV? Who is likely to benefit more? How can the other party avoid that? What are the strategies you adopt/conditions you include in negotiation to avoid/mitigate the risks and address concerns? What strategies you will adopt to get better advantage to your firm? What are the learning points? State at least 5 generic learning points you learnt from the case in bullet point form You are required to analyze the case from the perspective of each party. You may role play.
After case discussion in the class the group has to submit a 3-5 page group report on the case discussion and learning points within one week.
