Task 3 Teaching Phonics

The teacher taught a phonics lesson on the letter H to a group of students. She introduced the letter sound by showing the letter, singing a song, and having students repeat the sound. Students then identified words starting with H. The teacher demonstrated writing the letter and had students practice writing it in air and on whiteboards. Some students took notes or drew pictures related to words starting with H in independent centers after the lesson. The focus was on writing the letter and its sound. While students participated in parts of the lesson, more engaging activities could have helped their understanding.
