End-of-Course Reflection Paper/Questionnaire: Guide Questions Response/s
What significant learning insights did you gain The most significant learning insight I gained from the
from the course? course is the classification of teacher attitude. Above
all the success of every human being, whether a learner
or teacher is the attitude that he possesses. I believe
this attitude is the foundation of providing quality
education. As I remembered, there were four (4) major
factors in the teaching-learning process that a teacher
should maintain.
First, attitude toward self. For me, this can be referred
to SWOT Analysis. We have to identify our S-
strengths, W-weaknesses, O-opportunities, T-threats.
We have to know ourselves better. We should identify
our own potentials as it helps this on how we can
contribute more. Our weaknesses are very important
too to be analyzed because it helps us also to improve
or even modify certain attitude or behavior towards the
realization of our goals.
Second, attitude towards student. We should always
remember that our students are our greatest audience.
They see everything in us. Our attitude toward students
should not only focus on our content to be discussed. I
mean we should not only after teaching. We should
focus more our concentration to what we can give and
what they can learn from us. To teach as they say is
easy as long as you know the subject matter however,
the greatest challenge that a teacher can face is how he
can change/help the child develop holistically.
Third, attitude toward peers and student’s parents. We
should always remember that we are working in an
organization. As such we are working with others. Our
co-workers are a great source of inspiration,
motivation and emulation if however they possess
good attitude too. Respect to one another would surely
a great help to establish such strong relationship with
them. Despite of differences in beliefs, we should
always remember that we are working together for the
common good of everybody. On the other hand,
parents of teachers are very partners too in the
attainment of the school’s goals. Our parents’ supports
are very important because without them the school’s
plan will not be realized.
Fourth, attitude toward subject matter. One the greatest
attributes of a 21st century teacher is the mastery of his
subject matter. We should always remember that at the
end of the day, our learners learned from us. Sad to
say, that there are still those teachers who always let
their students copy lessons on the board. It is not bad
to let our students copy their lessons sometimes.
However, if this practice is being turned as a habit,
then it is time for us to reflect.
What challenges or difficulties did you experience For me the greatest challenges/difficulties I
during the course? experienced during the said course were internet
connection and time management.
What areas related to 21st Century teaching and I think I want to improve more on critical attributes of
learning do you still need to improve on and why? 21st century education particularly at Global
Classrooms and Project-based and research-driven.
Global classroom because I really wanted to
understand more our learners. I really wanted to study
and learn how to deal appropriately with our diverse
learners. Understanding their differences and provision
of varied strategies that would lead them as a holistic
learner.
Project-based and research-driven on the other hand is
the second critical attribute in the 21 st century I want to
improve more because I think this attribute seems so
interesting. Interesting in a way that it will lead to
answer problems, issues and concerns of the
department so as in the field of medicine, agriculture,
engineering and others.
What can you say about your overall experience For me, it was splendid. It was my first time to have
(i.e. comment on chat, forum, course requirements, such course and it was very exciting and full of
FLT competency, and the online modality)? learning. I must admit, I am that kind of person who is
introvert. I can express more my ideas in writing.
That’s why I think during chat sessions, I can really
express what I really wanted to tell. Little by little I am
modifying this kind of behavior considering the fact
that I am an educator. I have to consider that as an
educator I am a front liner. As front liner I have to talk
with clients (learners), attend and addresses to their
needs. I always remember one of my mentors during
my earning units who always say, “If you are a
teacher, you have to use your mouth”. “Your mouth is
your greatest weapon”, she added. The Forum part of
the learning session is very helpful also to ponder more
on issues related to 21st century education. It served as
add-ons for the learners to think more regarding a
certain topic to discuss. The Flexible Learning Tutor
was very excellent; he supplemented well the insights
and arguments of the learners to balance the subject
matter being discussed.
What are your other comments / suggestions for First, I would suggest that reflections, arguments,
improving the content coverage and future course insights of learners posted in the Forum shall be
deliveries? graded and/or given feedback immediately. This will
motivate more the learner to do the tasks given. It will
help the learner also to reflect from his answers.
Second, I would suggest that there will also video-chat
sessions. While it is true that learning online is
interesting, it will add more joy, excitement and
satisfying feeling if you see one another. It also one
way of building friendship considering that your
classmates in the said course are your new
acquaintances.
Third, in times of crisis or fortuitous events (like the
pandemic Covid), the FLT thru his assigned Tech
Support should always give a continuous feedback
regarding the concerns or issues of the class. There
were issues I really wanted to address specifically with
the requirements to be accomplished, but I received a
vague answer from the Tech Support. This can be done
through a messenger, zoom, and other platforms so
that he learner will know what he/she is going to do. In
times of crisis like the Covid pandemic,
communication also is very vital for the learners
information of what things are to be done or
accomplished. Simply because, there were those
guidelines set prior to the occurrence of the pandemic
which is no longer applicable during the crisis like the
demo teaching.
