Reaction Paper

The webinar which was held this 15th day of September 2020 through

zoom meeting the webinar entitled “Sustaining Students Educational
Drive Amidst COVID-19 Pandemic and Beyond”. The speaker is
Dr. Paulo Manuel Macapagal who is a Registered Psychometrician,
Psychologist, Educator, Researcher and a Clinical Psychologist. This
free webinar was part of the 50th Anniversary of PASMETH in the celebration of
Medical Technology Week 2020. It was an opportunity to have this webinar and
gave us chance to experience being part of the event.

One of my reactions to the webinar, it was to inform, give ideas, and

motivate us students and also to professionals. Due to this pandemic, sometimes
I’m having difficulty when studying online, feeling like I’m alone. Yet, the topics
helped me motivated in continuing my chosen course. At first, maybe I feel
uncomfortable studying online but, soon I may overcome and get used to it.

I liked the way Dr. Paulo Macapagal communicate to us audience when

every time he explains a certain topic I can easily understand what he points. He
was a good speaker, talks clearly and loud, capturing our attentions to listen to
him. I learned many things about coping skills, being motivated, causes of
COVID-19 pandemic, roles of medical technology and medical technologists in
COVID-19, and lastly, the importance of health care frontliners. I agree to what
Dr. Paulo said that the 3 causes of COVID-19 pandemic are physical effects,
financial problems, and mental health. This past few months I observed most of
the people experienced financial problems, and mental health problems, causes
insecurity, confusion, anxiety, depression, etc. Almost of the people here in the
Philippines suffered from financial problems like the electricity huge amount of
bills and to the futility of our economy. However, we Filipinos are known for our
resiliency, whenever in times of problems in our life we can still rise and unite
with other to gives strength and determination to fight for our problems.

In conclusion, the webinar was interesting and enjoyable. The

topics are brief but, explained clearly. My lasting impression to what
Dr. Paulo Macapagal said was “Motivation is the answer for students to sustain
educational drive, keep making yourself busy for you to forget the problems of
this pandemic”. I happily to recommend it for those students and professionals
for them to be motivated from the speaker.
