ACTIVITY 1:

Sustainable Product:

Sustainable products are those products that provide environmental, social and economic benefits
while protecting public health and environment over their whole life cycle, from the extraction of
raw materials until the final disposal.

List of some specific example of my own sustainable practice relating the products that I buy when
shopping are –

1. Bringing my own reusable bag for shopping vegetables and groceries item that’s an
easiest way for me to reduce waste.
2. Having the habit of carrying reusable water bottle.
3. Keeping plant in my home also planting trees in corridor.
4. Having a minimalist lifestyle so that sustainability is emphasized.
5. Becoming more sensible in using water, electricity, food.
6. Become an active member of community gardening.

List of some sustainable practices I have heard of:

 Clothes made from recycled fabric

 Wool footwear
 Stainless steel drink bottles
 Recycled toilet tissue
 Reusable sandwich wraps
 Ballpoint pens made from recycled water bottles
 Recycled paper
 100% recycled aluminum foil
 Reusable baby food pouch
 Biodegradable garden pots

ACTIVITY 2

From my own practice of sustainability, things I do so that sustainability impacts could be

improved are
 As people in my home are so much use to with plastic & polythene in case of shopping to
household. I personally decide to reduce plastic waste in home although try to limit buying
plastic products. Previously I myself also did this practices in my daily lifestyle as realizing
the sustainability. I decide to quit and also make my family member cautious. So, this tiny
effort of me could bring some positive impact.
 In shopping always keeping reusable bag and metal water pots that will be more fantastic
idea if those materials are available I market also. So that in case if anyone forget to bring
they can buy one. In that way no new waste will not be create and the plastic bags or use
of polythene will reduce.
 Things I do like, always depending on paper and stationary materials but those paper are
built from trees. So, instead of paper I can use technological device for writing and taking
notes. If this practice enriches in large number, then lots of trees will be saved.
 Reduction of personal vehicles and get use to bicycle so that we can reduce the CO2
emission or I can replace my old vehicles with electric vehicles but in that case the origin
of that electricity must be environmental friendly. It also a innovative way to improve
sustainability.
 I am a member of community gardening but this practice of gardening is not so enriched.
But if I have more funding and social awareness among people then this platform could
bring some improvement for sustainable community.

Where you send used materials to landfill or purchase products from unsustainable
sources.

Activity 3

The influence of adopting sustainable practice came to my mind when I have come to know that
about the raising of global temperature and climate change. From this understanding my instinct
said to me there will be no future for us and our generations if this climate change not able to
control. But also learn that this change cannot be taken place as an individual. There require some
more combine actions to recover from the climate change. The leaders of the nations also have a
very important role in this case. But before that we as an individual have a great power to use for
making our environment sustainable, that is our choice. Our choice to what we could do. From
that perspective of mine, I have decided to become a sustainable person towards nature.

The barriers that creating problem for me in behaving more sustainable in shopping, consuming
and disposing of products are:

1. Plastic & polythene is become so familiar and easier to reach that’s why people not going
to stop using them.
2. Still all of our official and unofficial, educational and documents are in paper form so it is
difficult to reduce usage of paper
3. In case of someone forget to bring their own water bottle and reusable bags they will try to
found the substitute in market. But if they’re not any other option in a low cost. They will
shift to less expensive plastic bags or water pots. That way wastage will have returned.
4. We have mentioned about electric vehicles but country like us still this type of
transportation is not familiar and if it is developed then it should be cost effective otherwise
the people will not follow.

Some suggestions of ways on behalf of us so that those barriers could potentially

be removed are:
1. Making substitute of plastic and polythene like (Sonali bag) available in market and oblige
strict rule to remove plastic and polythene from market. Things should be mind that the
substitute will cost effective.
2. By the help of information technology and devices the paper work could possibly be
removed with correct action by government. So that paper will not be remaining the main
option for documentation. Innovation may have applied in that case as we heard of many
ideas where paper made from other materials post-consumer waste, kenaf, agri-pulp,
cotton, agricultural residues, textile and cordage wastes.
3. In reducing vehicle CO2 emission many of the world companies have already developed
electric vehicles. The production also taken place domestically. From that purpose their
required of electric filling stations and sustainable electricity. Make sure production of
those electricity is ecofriendly and for enough production of electricity country can switch
to nuclear plant and solar energy. But establishing electric transportation their require also
require to establish renewable battery factory or batteries from those vehicles will damage
environment again.
4. Products that are marketed with plastic materials should be banned. Establish a guideline
for companies in packaging their products, the materials should be eco-friendly. Also
announce a prize for them who done this innovatively that will encourage others to do so.
As companies are already become so environmental concerning that action of local
government could bring positive vibes in business operation.
