CONDITIONAL SENTENCE TYPE 0, 1, 2 and 3

 Conditional Sentence Type 0


Untuk menyatakan situasi umum dan pasti.
1. If I eat a lot, I gain weight.
2. If it rains, it’s wet.
3. If you don’t eat, you feel hungry.
If bisa digantikan dengan when.
 Conditional Sentence Type 1
Untuk situasi dimasa depan, yang kemungkinan besar
akan terjadi.
1. If I see Iqbal, I will speak to him tomorrow.
2. If it rains, I will take taxi tomorrow.
3. If Akbar holds birthday party on 11 November
2020, Iqbal will give the gift for him.
The formula: If + Simple Present + Simple Future
 Conditional Sentence Type 2
Untuk situasi dimasa depan yang kemungkinan kecil
terjadi/ sama sekali tidak terjadi.
1. If I saw Iqbal tomorrow, I would speak to him.
2. If it rained tomorrow, I would take taxi.
3. If I were a doctor, I would help the earthquake
victims.
The formula: If + Simple Past + would + V1
 Conditional Sentence Type 3
Untuk situasi yang tidak bisa diubah atau berandai
andai di masa lalu.
1. If I had seen Akbar, I would have spoken to him.
2. If I had not been busy, I would have gone to the
party.
3. If I had met Ezra, I wouldn’t have been broken
hearted, but I did met Akbar and I am broken
hearted.
The formula: If + past perfect + would + have + V3
Modals: would, could, might, may.
 Type 0
If I eat too much, I feel sick.
If we burn paper, it becomes ash.
If I am tired, I take a break.

 Type 1
If you study hard, you will pass the exam.
If I give her chocolate, she will be happy.
If you tell her the truth, she will forgive you.

 Type 2
If you were thinner, you would look prettier.
If had time, I would go with you.
If we went to bed early every night, we would not be so
tired.
 Type 3
If I had studied harder, I would have gotten a better job.
If I had been more confident during interview, I would
have gotten the job I wanted.
If I had met Ina, I would have gone to mall together.
