1. a. Describe the process of Setting out for excavation of the 7


foundation a room size is 5mX7m centre to centre.Where as the
foundation of column ( 0.30mX0.30m)size are 1.2mX1.2m and
1.5m depth,thickness of wall is 35cm.Draw suitable sketches.
b. What is meant by S.B.C. of soil? Describe the method of 8
improving of S.B.C. of soil.
2. Explain the types of excavation and timbering of trenches in loose soil. 8
3. a. In which situation shallow foundations are necessary for 8
building and why? And what are the purposes of
foundation?
b. Describe the construction of foundation on sloping ground and 7
causes of failure of foundation and its prevention.

Describe about deep foundation. What are the differences between
precast and cast-in-situ piles, and advantages & disadvantages of
these?
4. What is meant by DPC? Explain the causes & effects of dampness, 15
method of damp proofing & water proofing in the building?
5. a. What are the technical terms used in brick bonds? Explain any two 7
types of brick bonds with sketches
b. Draw the sketches of cavity wall with its general features 8
and also its advantages.
c. Draw the neat sketch of timber stud partition wall with 7
details.
6. a. Define the technical terms of arches with the help of sketches. 5
b. Draw plan & section of staircase details, where as you will be

designing two storey Library building, in this situation, how do
you solve the Staircase design? All dimensions are according to
your point of view and Thumb rules.
