1. Group Activity (Mime Presentation)
Processing:
Considering the trend today that almost everyone is dependent on technology, how
would you go about it as a student?
For me as a student smartphones are commonly criticized for killing real conversation. I am certain we
have all availed ourselves of the distraction of having our Facebook, email, Twitter, and Instagram
constantly at our fingertips. It is simply wise to be aware of how we use social media. Social media can
help with loneliness and can be a way of supporting friends. However, it is the personalized
communication of comments and messages so inherent to face-to-face communication, rather than
explicitly quantifiable “likes” or “favorites,” that make us feel connected. Indeed, passive consumption
on Facebook solely through posting and scanning through status updates through our newsfeed,
twitter, and Instagram is correlated with feelings of loneliness.
Science fiction luminary Isaac Asimov wrote, “The saddest aspect of life right now is that science
gathers knowledge faster than society gathers wisdom.” In our present Internet era, this seems
especially true on an individual level. Vast amounts of information are constantly at our fingertips, yet it
seems we still lack the wisdom to healthily limit our dependence on technology not just for our own
sake, but for the health of our society and environment as well.

How would you assess your life in the midst of the advancement of technology?
How does it affect your outlook in life?
For me the future of well being in a technology saturated world all in all digital life is now
threatening our psychological economic this affects individuals mental wellbeing.
Technology affects the way individuals communicate, learn, and think. It helps society and
determines how people interact with each other on a daily basis. Technology plays an
important role in society today. It has positive and negative effects on the world and it
impacts daily lives. We are living in an era where technological advances are common. The
internet and cell phones are some examples. However, with technological advances, there’s a
downside to it all.
One aspect of technology that has had a great impact on society is how it affects learning. It’s
made learning more interactive and collaborative, this helps people better engage with the
material that they are learning and have trouble with. Also, it gets you better access to
resources. With the creation of the internet, it gives us access to information at a twenty-four-
hour rate and you have access to almost anything online. In addition, it allows students to get
work done easier. Students can take quizzes and exams more easily, and teachers being able
to hold online classes can be very effective. It also expands the boundaries of the classroom,
encouraging self-paced learning. People can access learning through YouTube and social
media. This helps students learn better than sitting down for lectures and reading from
textbooks. These technological advancements made learning more fun and convenient.
Another way technology has impacted society is through communication, how we talk and
communicate with one another worldwide. Technology brought many new methods of
electronic communication. For example, there are emails, social networking, you can face
time a person that lives on the other side of the world, and here’s video conferencing where
you can have conferences electronically. Lastly, the technological advancements that were
made within the health industry have helped keep people safe and healthy. There are many
innovate apps on phones that although people to watch their weight, how many calories they
intake, heart rate and other health properties any time of the day. There’s increased
accessibility of treatment available, there’s the change in healthcare that adds benefits for the
elderly, and hospitals using advanced technology within their surgical rooms.
However, studies show that mobile communication affects people in a negative way when it
comes to being sociable and making face-to-face contact. Mobile technology can decrease
communication and relations between people. There’s less personal time, where you find that
you don’t enough time for yourself because you’re always in contact with someone. Also, it
can be distracting from your schoolwork. There is also loss of privacy, because anyone can
find you anywhere, at any time of the day. In conclusion, all of these things impact how
humans act today. Without technological advancements, our way of life would not be as
complex. Technological influences shape the way humans act today.
Synthesis
Summarize in a five (5) to seven (7) sentences science, technology and society and
the human condition.
Society applauds the advancement scientific technology has made in recent years In
various fields, such as medicine, energy, and communication. While humankind
profits in many ways from this technology, a few voices are heard cautioning society
to consider the implications of these developments. The impact of technological
interventions on individual people, communities and the environment must also be
carefully considered. To do this, science needs to become more multidisciplinary
and its practitioners should continue to promote cooperation and integration between
the social and natural sciences.

1. What other aspects in life may bring about human flourishing aside from science
and technology?
Human flourishing involves the rationale use of ones individual of human potentialities
including talents, abilities, and virtues in the pursuit of his freely and rationally chosen
values and goals. For me the other aspects in life may bring about human flourishing
aside from science and technology is for me compassion because it involves caring about
people who are suffering wishing that they not suffer. Some people may say that
flourishing for a human being, but the nation of flourishing is a more biologically toned
concept than happiness. Also, with regards to science and technology flourish human
development in relation to society is known as eudaimonia, flourishing or happiness
which is desired for its own sake with all other things being desired on its account.
Eudaimonia is a property of one’s life is the highest good of human endeavors and that
toward which all actions aim.
For me the concept of happiness is that feeling that comes over you when you
know life is good and you can't help but smile. It's the opposite of sadness.
Happiness is a sense of well-being, joy, or contentment. When people are
successful, or safe, or lucky, they feel happiness. The "pursuit of happiness" is
something this country is based on, and different people feel happiness for
different reasons. Whenever doing something causes happiness, people
usually want to do more of it. No one ever complained about feeling too much
happiness. In additionThe main reason is that present happiness bears most
information about how well the individual is doing. Since it draws on recent
affective experience it is the most likely to reflect need gratification. Notions
of past and future happiness can be mere dreams. In fact there are indications
that present unhappiness can give rise to rosy views of happiness in earlier
periods and instigate wishful expectations of future happiness.
Formation
Also, we can get happiness from doing some simple things, such as taking a
relaxing bath, listening to music, going for a walk, reading a favorite book,
writing a letter to a friend, making a great meal for the family, or capturing a
glorious sunset. Although these things may seem minuscule and irrelevant,
they can help to create a delightful atmosphere, release the stress, and convert
negative emotions into happiness. In a word, these activities make difference
on our happiness level. Granted, there are circumstances that rob us of our
happiness that we don't have as much choice over, such as war, death, health
problems, and natural disasters, but we are not completely helpless even in
these circumstances. We have a choice to go on with life and live it the best
we can. We can still set goals and dream dreams. We can still keep happy by
looking good future.
Without science the world would not come up to this point. Because of science we have Technology,
buildings, bridges, structures and transportation. However, the most important thing that we wouldn't
have if science didn't exist is knowledge, it is the most important thing in our lives. We could not do
simple things such as washing dishes and turning on a computer. We wouldn't have invented cars,
trucks, or other vehicles without science. Due to the contribution of science, human beings now a
days live longer because of new inventions of medicine and treatment. Even doctors can transplant
the vital organs such as heart, kidney, eyes etc. due the invention of science. So, science brought the
modern civilization at this stage where we are today. Science has always been with humans since the
dawn of time. The early forebears engaged in various forms of experimentations though not in a
highly professional and advanced manner as we do today.
First of all without technology is very slow transportation, we use technologies to please our
needs. We buy things produced with special equipment. We live in houses built with
construction machinery. We use electronic devices for communication and interaction as well
as we travel using different vehicles. All this has become possible thanks to inventions which
are a part of evolution. The need to simplify our existence enabled development of
civilization. Let’s now cast our mind back to the time when people had to manage without
any technology. Imagine that you have to travel from one country to another. It would take
you months just to reach a final destination. Besides that, you would suffer from tiredness,
hunger and diseases. Technology impacts us in different ways. It can be also negative and
dangerous, but at the same time, we use its advantages to improve conditions we live in. We
enjoy our lives not even thinking what helps us to do that. Technology has become an
integral part of our life. As the result we are not able to separate it from our world, moreover
to imagine civilization or development without it.
Synthesis
What is your own view of human flourishing?
Human flourishing is defined as an effort to achieve self-actualization and fulfillment within
the context of a larger community of individuals, each with the right to pursue his or her
own such efforts. It encompasses the uniqueness, dignity, diversity, freedom, happiness,
and holistic well-being of the individual within the larger family, community, and population.
Achieving human flourishing is a life-long existential journey of hopes, achievements,
regrets, losses, illness, suffering, and coping. The nurse helps the individual to reclaim or
develop new pathways toward human flourishing. Promote the dignity, integrity, self-
determination, and personal growth of diverse patients, their families, and oneself to
provide individualized, culturally appropriate, relationship-centered nursing care.

Synthesis
In modern times, there are various technological advancements in all forms and
sizes; it may be at home,
workplace, learning place, or simply on the streets. It is now very accessible to
almost anyone in the world.
It is not completely impossible to say that each person owns at least one
technological device. Besides,
technology is not enclosed to expensive and high-end devices. Simple types of
machines that can perform
simple task regularly can already be considered a form of technology. However,
despite its usefulness and
beneficial characteristics, there are still some problems faces by different
technological advancements.
These problems are ethical in nature that involves not only the machine but also
mankind. It is now
impossible for technology and humanity not to cross paths because as some would
argue, technology has
become a necessity for people.
It is needless to say that like any other aspect of development, the technological
development is similar to
a double edge sword which on one side can kill someone and on the other side can
lead to one’s own
protection. However, the decision to use it proficiently in proper perspective is one’s
own decision and
choice.
If technological advancements are put in the best uses, it further inspires the
development in related and
non-related areas but at the same time its negative use can create havoc in the
humanity. Technology has,
and will, change the moral fabric of humanity; it is up to the present generation to
heed this warning and
not allow such societal travesties of immense proportions ever to occur again.
Technological
advancements will continue to advance rapidly as we move into the next millennium.
What is important is
to ensure that these advances benefit humanity as a whole.
