Quarter 1- Module 4:
Classifying Materials
Around Us as Solid, Liquid
and Gas
Introductory Message
For the facilitator:
Welcome to the Science – Grade Three Alternative Delivery
Mode (ADM) Module on Classifying Materials Around Us as Solid,
Liquid or Gas!

This module was collaboratively designed, developed and

reviewed by educators both from public and private institutions to
assist you, the teacher or facilitator in helping the learners meet the
standards set by the K to 12 Curriculum while overcoming their
personal, social, and economic constraints in schooling.
This learning resource hopes to engage the learners into guided
and independent learning activities at their own pace and time.
Furthermore, this also aims to help learners acquire the needed 21st
century skills while taking into consideration their needs and
circumstances.

As a facilitator, you are expected to orient the learners on how to

use this module. You also need to keep track of the learners'
progress while allowing them to manage their own learning.
Furthermore, you are expected to encourage and assist the
learners as they do the tasks included in the module.
For the learner:

Welcome to the Science 3 Alternative Delivery Mode (ADM)

Module on Classifying Materials Around Us as Solid, Liquid or Gas
This module was designed to provide you with fun and meaningful
opportunities for guided and independent learning at your own
pace and time. You will be enabled to process the contents of the
learning resource while being an active learner.

This module has the following parts and corresponding icons:

What I Need to This will give you an idea of the

What I Need to Know

Hello kids! Are you now excited to

study our lesson in this new
normal? Well, let’s proceed and read
carefully. There’s a need to answer
some questions, so just write it down
in your Science module.

Make sure that this module is well -

taken cared of. Thanks!

-Teacher Hann

This module was designed and written with you in mind. It is here to
help you master the states of matter. The scope of this module
permits it to be used in many different learning situations. The
language used recognizes the diverse vocabulary level of
students. The lessons are arranged to follow the standard
sequence of the course. But the order in which you read them can
be changed to correspond with the textbook you are now using.

After going through this module, you are expected to:

1. Classify objects and materials as solid, liquid and gas based

on some observable characteristics;
2. Name different objects around us; and
3. Classify the objects based on their characteristics
What I Know
Directions: Read each statement and choose the letter of the
correct answer. Write it in your science notebook

1. Which of the following that describes solid?

a. Solid has texture and color.
b. Solid cannot be seen.
c. Solids have different shapes and sizes.
d. Both A and C.

2. What state of matter that can be held?

a. Condensation
b. Gas
c. Liquid
d. Solid

3. Which of the following is a Solid?

a. b. c. d.

4. A rambutan is _________________.
a. hard b. rough c. soft d. crunchy
5. A guava is round. What have you noticed with its shape?

b. It takes the shape of the object. d. The shape will remain

constant

Know your score!

4-5 - Very Good! Keep on reading the module even if you

know the lessons well.

2-3 - Good! Read again the questions that you find difficult to
answer. Then you may proceed to the next part of
the lesson.

0-1 - Poor. Don’t feel bad with your score.

This is your module designed for you to understand better

the lessons about Classifications of objects and materials as
Solid, Liquid or Gas.

What are you waiting now? Let’s begin! But don’t forget to
enjoy!
