INVAZYME® SOFT enzyme

PRETREATMENT FOR TEXTILES

USES
®
The application of the enzyme INVAZYME SOFT enables to scour natural cellulosic material (e.g.
cotton, linen, hemp) and its blends at a lower temperature and pH compared to traditional alkaline
scouring by avoiding the use of harsh chemicals such as caustic soda. Hence the fabric is well-
absorbent and properly cleaned for subsequent dyeing or printing processes of medium to dark
shades. This BIO-SOFT cracking process achieves a soft handle, no fiber damage by using an
environmentally friendly process and at the same time saving water, energy and time.

Characteristics Benefits

• Replacing discontinuous alkaline • Very soft handle

scouring before dyeing of medium to • No damage of the cellulose fiber and no loss of
dark shades strength property of the fabric
• BIO-SOFT process at mild • No danger of residual alkaline on the fabric for
conditions of cotton, linen or hemp subsequent printing or dyeing processes
knitted, woven fabrics or yarn and its
blends • Saving in water, energy and time
• Optimum results at temperature • Less weight loss
appr. 55°C and pH appr. 8
• Less swelling of the celllusosic fibres • Uniform effects in yarn cheese dyeing machines

• Removal of pectin and other • Hydrophilic and properly cleaned fabric for
impurities such as waxes, fats & subsequent trouble-free wet processing
earth alkaline and heavy metal ions

• Possibility of combining various • Possibility to reduce the amount of alkaline in the

pretreatment processes such as: subsequent peroxide bleach
- BIO-SOFT cracking & Bleaching • Saving of water, energy and time
- BIO-SOFT cracking & Desizing
- BIO-SOFT cracking & Dyeing

• Good bio-elimination properties, • Environmental friendly, savings in waste water

avoidance of the use of caustic soda treatment, less neutralization hence lower salt
load, lower BOD.….

• Liquid, pumpable formulation. • Convenient handling. Suitable for automatic

dispensing of the undiluted product.

APPLICATIONS
Dissolving/diluting
®
INVAZYME SOFT enzyme can be added undiluted to the application baths and feed liquors. It can
also be mixed with water in all proportions.

Suggested recipes
®
INVAZYME SOFT is applied in combination with the appropriate complexing agent INVATEX ED
and a strong emulsifying/degraesing agent such as INVADINE DA or ULTRAVON PRE or with a
combination product such as INVATEX MD.
Discontinuous application: BIO-SOFT cracking on knitgoods or yarn
natural cellulosic fibers such as cotton, linen, ramie and their blends including elastane

® ®
0.5–1.5 ml/l INVADINE DA or ULTRAVON PRE
®
0.5–1.0 ml/l INVATEX ED
®
1.0–2.5 ml/l INVAZYME SOFT
®
0.0–0.5 ml/l FUMEXOL DFN

Liquor ratio 4 : 1–20 : 1

Temperature 55–60°C
pH 6–9 (preferably pH 8), set with soda ash or buffer
Reaction time 20–40 min
Wash off Hot (at least 85°C) and cold

In case of starch-sized woven goods it is recommended to add 0.5 – 2.0 ml/l INVAZYME ADC.

A BIO-SOFT process can also be used as the first step in a two-step-one-bath BIO-SOFT/peroxide
bleach process enabling the reduction of caustic amount in the peroxide bleach recipe.

Pad-batch application: BIO-SOFT desizing

natural cellulosic fibers such as cotton, linen, ramie woven fabrics and their blends
including elastane

with combination product:

®
5– 8 ml/kg INVATEX MD
®
2– 4 ml/kg INVAZYME ADC
®
2–10 ml/kg INVAZYME SOFT

or with single products:

®
4– 6 ml/kg ULTRAVON PRE
®
1– 2 ml/kg INVATEX ED
®
2– 4 ml/kg INVAZYME ADC
®
2–10 ml/kg INVAZYME SOFT

Bath temperature 20–60°C

pH 6–9 (preferably pH 8), set with soda ash or buffer
Liquor pick-up 90–100%
Batching time 20–24 h
Wash off Hot (at least 85°C) and cold

BIO-SOFT desizing enables to reduce considerably the amount of alkaline in the subsequent pad-
steam or pad-batch peroxide bleach.
