Actividad de proyecto 3

Learning activity 10: Arrange action and contingency plans according to the
organization protocols.

1. Read the learning material “Action plan design and outdoor equipment” in order to
have the necessary tools for the elaboration of the evidence.

2. After analyzing the material contents, do the following activities:

o Make a list of five cultural spots in the place you are living that have touristic
relevance for your town or city. It could be a museum, a court, a bridge, a square, a
plaza, a church or a monument.

5. El gato del rio

o Search for precise information about the history of each place and take notes.

o Make a map of a “tour route” in your city or town, where you include the previous five
cultural spots. You can follow the map example in the “Let’s listen” section of the
learning material.
o Take pictures, make a drawing of the touristic places or look for images in a library or
the internet of the five cultural places in your town.

La Ermita church is a Catholic church located in Santiago de Cali, Colombia.


Originally it was a old construction from the beginning of the XVII century, established in the
vicinity of the Cali River.
In 1942, the church was built, which is one of the referents of the architectural places of cali City
The construction is a neo-Gothic church in miniature.The new church is dedicated to Our Lady
of Sorrows and inside it retains the old
image of the Lord of the Reed
The windows represent the image of the holy apostles.
The present church is visited by a large number of tourists every year.
This sacred site is one of the main attractions visited in the city, not exactly by the
faithful devotees but by thousands of tourists from the world who find as an extraordinary
location.
This important construction is part of the regional pride and at night it is illuminated and it sees
beautiful.

Plaza de Cayzedo is the main square of the city of Cali, in Valle del Cauca. It was known as the
Plaza Mayor during the colonial period, until 1813, which was named Plaza de la Constitución.1
In 1913(NAITENN FIRTENN) it was given its current name in honor of the independence hero
of Valle del Cauca and martyr Caleño Joaquín de Cayzedo and Cuero , 2 and was decorated with
a statue of hers in the center of the plaza. It is surrounded by numerous buildings, among which
stand out the National Palace, the Otero building.

The Plaza de Cayzedo is the starting point of the development of the city, around it were built the
homes of the wealthiest habitants of the city, becoming the main center of commerce of the city
during its early years. From 1674 to 1897, it was mainly used as a public market square. In 1898
it was conditioned as a park, building a kiosk for presentations of the municipal band and was
enclosed with an ornamental grid, which was maintained until 1936, when it was refurbished as a
public square.
The square was remodeled in 1986 to mark the 450th anniversary of the founding of the Cali
city. It was the place of work of the public scribes and shoe blinds, until they were relocated to
the Park of the Poets a block away.
Complejo religioso la Merced
Complejo la Merced is a religious complex located in the founding place of the city of Santiago
de Cali, Colombia. It is made up of the main nave of the church dedicated to Our Lady of Mercy
(patron saint of the city), there are a religious convent, the religious art museum and the
archeological Museum. In February of 1975 the convent was declared a National Monument.
 The chapel of the Virgen de los Remedios dates back to 1678. The tower and the chapel have
several restorations that have taken away much of their original appearance. One of the most
remembered restorations happened in 1956 when the explosion of August 7 of that same year
brought down the ceiling of the chapel of the Virgen de los Remedios.
It be adecuated to function as a school, the building has also been used as a military fort and
hospital, this has been administered by the Augustinian Recollects, who took over the complex
after the school gave them the facilities.
In the decade of 1970 it was decided to restore the complex of La Merced and it return it as the
first hospital in the city.
The museum was inaugurated next to the Museum of Colonial and Religious Art, the chapel and
the cloister which had been restored and declared national monuments.
The museum has a room for exhibitions of temporary works, six permanent rooms dedicated to
the collection, a multifunctional room for video projection with a capacity for 120 people; In
addition, its outer space is used for civic, cultural and business activities.

Museo del Oro Calima

The Calima Gold Museum is an archaeological museum dedicated to the Calima culture located
in the historic center of Santiago de Cali, Colombia. The Callima Gold Museum was the ninth
museum created by the cultural area of the Bank of the Republic of Colombia to show the
artistic and cultural expressions of the pre-Hispanic populations.
The museum was inaugurated on May 9, 1991 to conserve, investigate and disseminate the
archaeological heritage of the region, known under the generic name of calima culture, and
which refers to different human groups that inhabited during different periods of time in the
Valle del Cauca. Thus, the museum's collection includes 615 pieces of goldsmith's work,
ceramics, stone, wood, shell, bone and ethnographic objects from the Ilama, Yotoco and Sonso
cultures. The archaeological pieces of the Malagan culture, also belonging to the Calima
archaeological culture, for its recent discovery and lack of space are found in the Gold Museum
of Bogotá.
The museographic script provides information on the different customs of the prehispanic
inhabitants of the region, as well as their worldview, religion, hierarchies, ornaments, cultural
exchanges, goldsmith techniques and others.

El Gato de Tejada is located in El Peñón neighborhood, on the banks of the Cali River, a
bronze sculpture that was built in 1996 by the Colombian artist Hernando Tejada, who
donated it to the city after settling down to live in it.

This work is surrounded by an ideal landscape for tourist walks, for the beauty of the
area.
Besides, others scultors donated others cats with diferent colors and designs, and now
there are named “the gilrfriends of the cat”
