Model Calculations For Total Reflux

The document contains calculations for total and partial reflux experiments in a distillation column. For total reflux: the reflux ratios, weights, moles, flow rates, and efficiency were calculated. The top tray temperature was found to be 69°C and distillate flow rate was 9.3 mol/hr. For partial reflux: similar calculations were shown and the distillate flow rate was determined to be 0.07 lb-mol/hr. Stage-by-stage calculations identified six theoretical stages in the column.

Results
There are two experiments and we have find the overall efficiency of the column and the we
have find the top tray temperature which is T=69 0C. distillate comes D= F-B = 0.07 lb-mol/hr

while at the end of second experiment we got the following results:

 Stage1, y= 0.7
 Stage2, y= 0.54
 Stage3, y= 0.45
 Stage4, y= 0.50
 Stage5, y= 0.38
 Stage6, y= -2.8
D= F-B = 0.07 lb-mol/hr
