Soc-Sci 101 Personal Development Module 2: Developing The Whole Person
• Discuss the relationship of the physiological, cognitive, psychological, spiritual, and social development in
developing the whole person
• Understand and evaluate one’s thoughts, feelings, and behaviors given in different real-life situation
• Formulate a strategy showing people’s connection of thoughts, feelings, and behaviors through an Infographic
Poster
Holistic Development – This refers to the “process of self-actualization and learning that combines an individual’s
mental, physical, social, emotional, and spiritual growth.”
PHYSIOLOGICAL DEVELOPMENT- the physical attributes including the five senses. This pertains to the maturing of the
body and its systems along with its functions.
COGNITIVE DEVELOPMENT - the emergence of the ability to think and understand. Changes in one’s mental abilities,
learning capacity, memory, reasoning, thinking process and language are evident. The brain plays a vital role.
PSYCHOLOGICAL DEVELOPMENT- how thinking, feeling and behaving interact and happen in a person. It involves how
growth and emotions changes as adolescents show unpredictable attitude, mood swings, and frantic emotional outburst
which slowly subsides as they age towards adulthood.
SPIRITUAL DEVELOPMENT - the attribute of a person's consciousness and beliefs, including the values and virtues that
guide and put meaning into a person's life.
- It is a process of developing personal belief to God and holiness. Spirituality, affects the person’s morality. It is our
personal stand of how we live our lives according to our faith.
PSYCHOSOCIAL DEVELOPMENT- the manner by which an individual interacts with other individuals or groups of
individuals. It refers to the learned and developed ways of behaving in accordance to social expectations. Developing
socially acceptable behavior is continuous across ones lifespan with particular attention to childhood and adolescence.
• -Recall your development as an adolescent –physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and socially.
• Make a list in your mind of those aspect/s that you think you have grown more advantageous than adolescent
your age and those aspects /s you are less in terms of holistic development.
• Each group must formulate a strategy that the people normally do to connect their thoughts, feelings, and
behaviors to help others through an Infographic poster.
• The group can choose whatever medium you want to use on your Infographic Poster like tarpaulin, poster
board, or illustration board (depends upon the creativity of each group)
