SOCIAL MEDIA ISOLATION

(Argumentative Essay)
ESSAY

Social media should be one of the greatest advances in human history. It has connected
mankind in a way that has never been seen before. We can share our lives with people
thousands of miles away from photos, positions and highlights of our lives. With the power of
staying in touch with our loved ones, it seems that our standard of living will improve. These
days, use of social media applications such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc. are used a lot
by the people. If there is positive use of social media, it also lead to negative impact among
people, it could be abused when it is not used properly. The more time spent on social media by
the adults, the higher there is chances of feeling isolated socially. Use of social media results
the feeling of isolation and it end up in affecting people negatively in their real life relationships.
The youth is unable to build a healthy relationship with the people in their surroundings which is
the result of excessive use of social media.

There are several reasons that can cause isolation because of the use of social media. The
replacement of “real people” with “virtual people” is reason that leads to fake friendships. It is an
illusion to people, which make them think that all they need is only virtual friends which deceives
them. According to the psychologists, the time that is more spent on social media, the more
there is chances of feeling isolated. A study shows that when a person makes friends on social
media and meeting them in person, it causes his happiness. But in reality he cannot consume
the pressure of being judged by the society. Another reason of social media leading to isolation
is the distractions caused by social media. We do not have any idea about what is going on in
our surroundings. When we feel embarrassed in reality, we tend to move to social media to
distract our thoughts.
The more time spent on social media by the adults, the higher there is chances of feeling
isolated socially. It also leads to negative impact when it comes to mediating, developing and
establishing healthy relationships. It affects the socialization that is normal and positive
developments which is associated with the interactions that is face to face in the relationship
formation.

The social media leads to increasing isolation, which causes the negative effects on health, also
death of person due to high depression and anxiety due to isolation. When a person is being
isolated for a long period of time, it results in diseases like obesity and also mental
complications like stress and depression.

As social media is a good platform to stay communicated and also it influence people by the
lifestyle of other people. It gives us a platform where no one is divided because of the power of
politics but remain united by the thoughts and the interest of people all over the world.

Social media can offer us many positivity and it also help us to become social, but in my
opinion, the social media made us become more limited can do not help us to stay social. We
have to keep the maintenance between the social media and our practical life. By limiting our
exposure, it will be beneficial for us to take the advantage of technology in positive ways. We
can limit our exposure by cutting out the negative thoughts which are causing the isolation.
Schedule the regular breaks from social media like 1 week break from Facebook can lead to
high life satisfaction and lower stress. These strategies can help in reducing the feeling of
isolation and help in self-improvement and the environment.
